AUSTRALIA VERSUS INDIA- 3RD ODI MATCH

Postby Media Park » Sun Oct 24, 2010 1:32 pm

Here it goes...

If we lose this one, it's the first time since 1979/80, that Australia has had a winless Indian tour.

There's been a rain delay, cleared up now and covers are coming off, probably an hour at least before we'll have some play.

Callum Ferguson comes into the Australian line-up with Mike Hussey having flown home.

Hopes, Hastings, Hauritz, McKay, Starc will be the bowlers, as Doug Bollinger was on the same plane as Hussey.

Only possible other change is Dave Warner. Will he come in for Marsh?

Just saw a grab of Fox2 of a Brad Hodge interview.

If a guy on the Crows list, who was playing SANFL all year, made the comments that Hodge just made, about how much he deserved selection, they'd be fined/disciplined/sacked.

This guy is a very good batsman, and he's in my best XI, but he's also comes across as an arrogant toss.

So you would rather he just make NO COMMENT or alternatively just TELL LIES ???
Whats wrong with just telling it how it is and what everyone else is thinking ???

Thought it was a refreshingly honest interview and made for very captivating listening rather than the same stock standard boring answers that most of them give as to not rock the apple cart.

Will preface this by saying i didn't hear the current interview.

Hodge's issue IMO is he has been whinging about not being selected for god knows how long. Its almost as though he thinks he is the only player in australia's history that has had a rough trot in terms of selection and he is not afraid in telling whoever cares to listen. There have been plenty of other players over the years to miss selection when they have felt they deserved it but it would be a hard challenge to find anyone who has moaned about his hard luck as much or as consistently as Hodge.

I didn't see it either (thankfully). He would've played a bit more for Australia if he a) wasn't so arrogant and b) didn't place his batting averages above what the team needs. Too many times over the years I've seen this guy play it safe knocking it around for ones & twos when his team (Aus, Vics, Kolkata) have needed more runs and seems content to let the tail enders go for the big swings. He does appear to be a bit less anal about hurting his averages these days but that was only after he knew his international career was shot.

Brag Hodge ...

The interview was a snorter
No one can blame him for his comments
It was pointed out that he averages about 100 in his last dozen or so o/d games
He pointed out he is as old as some of the team playing at present
He also said he should be in the team with the runs heez made the last 2 seasons

The selectors have overlooked him and yet Cuzzin Brag still sponsors the current odi team
His name is on the shirts
Victoria Bitter ....

So Hodge dosn't get a game because he is aggorant and tells the truth. M.Hussey and North can go through terrible runs of form and Hilditch will come out and say we have faith in these guys. The selectors need to be sacked, and the new ones need to pick the best side possible. Where talking about representing your country not some local B grade comp.

I remember when he first got picked for Australia and one of his comments was "no one deserves this opportunity more than me".
Not sure whether it's the Victorian coming out of him, short man syndrome or a combination.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Who cares what he said !. He said the truth and that is refreshing these days. Its elite sport and you wont make it to the top if you dont have any arrogance. Hodge just shows it a bit more, but thats him. Pity these days we have to be clones of each other.
