It has always bugged me how fast bowlers at international level are classified.
For instance, Jason Gillespie, Darren Gough, Wasim Akram etc were all classed as medium-fast.
Why is that? How do you distinguish between fast and medium fast?

The only bowlers I remember being classed as fast were Lee, Akhtar, Steyn, Johnson and Tait.

I guess it would be average speed

ala 145+ would be a fast bowler
145-140km would be a fast medium
140-135km would be a medium fast
135-130km would be medium

A certain Alan Donald, may feel left out, when you go back to the Gough, Akram vintage. Maybe Shane Bond too.

I've seen them classified like this (Using Australia's current squad members as examples)-

Fast- 145km+ (Shaun Tait)
Fast Medium- 135km-144km (Doug Bollinger)
Medium Fast- 125km-134km (Shane Watson)
Medium- 115km-124km (Mike Hussey)

and if you want to take it further,

Slow Medium- 105km-114km
Slow- 95km-104km (Hence Slow Left Arm)

Nice video MP but you can't really rate him and that wicket in a topic about BOWLING SPEEDS. That's just one of those freakishly bad things that only cricket can produce, nothing more.

Yes it was, you see it all the time, in every level of cricket. Carl Hoopers catch was the actual highlight.
