I can't believe Brett Lee gets a contract what a waste of a space.

SA bit lucky to have two on the the list (Ferguson and Tait) with Tait keeping his spot as a limited over specialist while Warner cant.
"We see him (Tait) as an important member of the World Twenty20 squad and a real chance to force his way back into the Australian 50-over side," Hilditch said. "At his best he is a powerful weapon in limited-overs cricket."

Lucky to have 2?
With peter george just being called over to cover for Ryan Harris, i thought he may have got a gig.
When will SA start to announce their contracts?

What about Bracken?
Is his injury that serious that he's not expected to bowl well next year?
He's been a top class one day performer for a long time, and wouldn't have thought he was so old as to get dumped quite that quickly.

Seriously though, hows about Taity. Minimum $200 000 to bowl 4 overs every now and then.
Not bad work if you can get it.

I think it's all a load of frog poo, the selectors will pick you if they need you reagardless if you are on the list or not.

That frog poo will buy you a lot of good stuff though. A minimum contract is worth plenty more than a few match payments.

I was referring to the concept, it's a bit silly having a squad of 25 or 30 whatever they have and then call up unlisted players when injuries occur.
One would think the contract players would get first priority.

Bracken is 32 but always bowls within himself. Dead stiff to miss out to Lee in particular.

What about Andrew McDonald. I cannot believe he got a contract, he's the most useless Australian player ever. Talk about a waste of space and for that matter time and money.

Nope dont agree here. He was damn unlucky to be dropped from the test side. He is very handy with both bat and ball. A great replacement for an injured Hopes/Watson/Christian in all 3 forms

One of the smartest Cricketers in that 25 man list.
Definitely shouldn't have been dropped from the Test Team.

Don't get all the McDonald love - at least in terms of a Baggy Green. Looked out of his depth in every test I saw him in. Thanks, but no thanks.

No wonder so many young gun cricketers are chosing football the CA contracts are just a bloody raffle.

Not to mention there's about six times(?) as many meal tickets out there for a footballer.

In reality, a lot more than that - these are the only 25 blokes who make a comfortable living from cricket, the state contracted players get by on wages comparable to the real world. It's more like 25 times as many opportunities in football.
