Wasim Akram - did it over a greater period on more batsmen friendly pitches.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Wasim Akram without a doubt IMO.

I rate Johnson 4th on your list.

Why isn't CHris Mathews part of this discussion ?

Even Bruce Reid was head and shoulders :D above MJ in ability but was too busy being sticky taped together.

Akram easily the best of those listed. In a league of his own. One of the finest fast bowlers we will ever see.

While i'm at it Chaminda Vass should be on the list and is easily ahead of any Australian bar Davidson. Bollinger being there is obviously a piss take because he has a way to go to catch the likes of Reid, Whitney and Julian let alone the others you have mentioned.

How many of those would Sobers have gotten with his orthodox and chinamen bowling?

As much as i agree with this that Akram is far superior to the rest, on more batsmen friendly pitches? Johnson/Bollinger have bowled on more batsmen friendly pitches then the other 3. Everything these days and in the last 10 years has been in favour of the batsman. Johnsons record is phenomenal in this era IMO

Akram. As for modern bowlers bowling on more batsman friendly pitches than a PAKISTANI fast bowler think again. Not the greatest wickets for the quicks over there on the sub-continent. Douggie has already played a large proportion of his test career in NZ which is normally a happy hunting ground for bowlers (maybe that's because the Kiwis can't bat for shit). As for Miss Johnson I still haven't forgiven him for his role in the only Test loss at Lords in my lifetime.

1 AKRAM
Without a shadow of doubt
His varaiation was his main weapon
Fast deliverys
reverse swing
yorkers
bouncers
His ability to bowl top line batters out was his greatest assett
Imagine having Gout and facing Akram and Younis !!!

That leaves the greatest AU left hand bowler
Who would it be ?
DAVIDSON
JOHNSON
REID
BOLLINGER

Interesting
MJ has got to 150 wickets quiickest of all lefties [is that all bowlers or AU lefties ?]
Of the 4 selected au bowlers MJ reminds me most of Akram
They both can produce the unplayable ball
Batsman can devise a plan of sorts with Akram as he is at u all the time
With MJ he getsya with a snorter becoz he is all over the place

1 DAVO
2 MJ
3 REID
4 RUG

BUT
IF
MJ can bowl as he is for another 2 years , he is the best in my opinion

I cant forget the superhuman performance he put up in South Africa after they beat us at home
That was the turning point of this team from sliding to medioricrity to being the team they are now

Take the good with the bad with MJ
And refreshingly the good far outweighs the bad

Number 1 has to be Wasim, the guy was amazing. Then followed in 2nd place by Davidson (any bowler that bowls left handed and has the last name davidson must be good :D). Mitch follows closely behind and if he keeps going he'll become number 2 in no time at all.
