George joins test squad

Postby bloods08 » Wed Mar 17, 2010 6:15 pm

Peter George has been called up as cover for Ryan Harris as he battles injury. It is for the first test only. Good reward for an excellent season.

Good news and even though I don't give a lot of praise to the NSW players, I wouldn't have complained if they'd gone for Copeland as a smokie as he's impressed in his first four or five games but well done to George and hopefully he can get a run.

I wonder if they send Cutting over after the shield final? He would have to be next in line I'd imagine.

Good Question Lightning
I wonder which of the 2 would have gone had QL not been in the SS final

CUTTING
36 WICKETS 22-08

GEORGE
28 WICKETS 31-93

The stats are overwhelmingly in favour of CUTTING [those stats I assume are right]
But as the greast ROD ROOSTER has said in the past, stats are not always a good guide

I think both players performed similarly
CUTTING has the opportunity to play 5 games at the Gabba and 1 at Adelaide Road Oval
GEORGE the opposite, and Georges job infinitely harder to get an average closer to 20
There is almost a 10 run average difference but I think there about even

GEORGE is prob the better bowler
CUTTING a superior batsman and is a good outfielder

And yes I did spot GEORGE in the nets at Adelaide Oval and was very impressed a few years ago
I predicted on SAFOOTY that he would be a big name talent :D when he was a grade cricketer

GEORGE will be thrilled to be in NZ but apparently will miss the District Grand Final this weekend[and the election ...]

PS
I cant resist
Congrats to the SA selectors who dropped GEORGE from our Franger Cup team earlier this year
He was dropped after his amazing 0/16 off 10 0vers ....
Whatever happened to persisting with potential

cutting has 45 @ 21
george has 36 @30

it is easier for cutting to average less but easier for george to get more wickets as for queensland cutting has 2 other bowlers in teh top 8 wicket takers for the season (swan & feldman) whereas sa have no other bowlers in the top 10

Well I hope he fields better and holds catches than he holds and opens drink containers on an aircraft after he spilt his milk all over himself and me on a recent breakfast flight to Canberra! He looked very "unco"!
