Players who Retire early to chase the money in 20/20 .

A.Gilchrist - Still playing IPL and for Middlesex. Wouldnt play KFC big bash, 50,000 wasnt enough
M.Hayden - Still playing IPL, could of been handy for QLD in KFC big bash.
B.Hodge - Retired from first class cricket. At the time Victoria were on top of Shield ladder and couldnt miss final. IPL clashes with Shield final.
A.Symonds - Was playing Test cricket 12 months ago, just 20/20 now.
A.Flintoff - Retired from Test cricket, still would of been in Englands best side for some years to come. At least is still playing for Yorkshire.
J.Oram - Just ODI's and 20/20
S.Afridi - Just ODI's and 20/20
C.Vass - Just ODI's and 20/20
S.Bond - NZ's no1 bowler.Just ODI's and 20/20
D.Nannes - IPL clashes with Shield final. Retires from first class cricket 4 weeks out from final, at a time when his state needed him.

S.Tait - Soft, likes bowling short spells in Ford Ranger and 20/20's

Can't disagree. I must admit, I'm envious, but it's undermining the fabric of test cricket IMO.

Damien Martyn? Retired in late '06 and went and played in the ICL but now that the league is pretty much defunct has signed to play with Warnie's mob in the IPL this year for something like $100,000.

Im not saying he retired too early. In the past players like M.Waugh, Border, Gillespie etc.... always played one more year for there state, to give something back to them. Even If they didnt play Shied, it would of been great to see Hayden and Gilchrst in FR and KFC Big Bash. Gilchrsit has retired but can still find time to play for Middlesex and IPL and Hayden IPL.

Shane Bond put in a huge effort to strengthen his body during the last winter to allow him to come back and play test cricket for New Zealand, which he did this season. In his return match he was Player of the Match, even though he became injured. He then prepared for the next test match and once again broke down, a process he did once again playing FC cricket in NZ.
The impression that I have is that Bond wishes to play Test cricket for New Zealand but has been restricted by injury and admits that he can not be sure his body is up to the requirements. He has put in a LOT more hard yards than our own Slinger Tait in trying to play all forms of cricket.
