Can't disagree. I must admit, I'm envious, but it's undermining the fabric of test cricket IMO.

Damien Martyn? Retired in late '06 and went and played in the ICL but now that the league is pretty much defunct has signed to play with Warnie's mob in the IPL this year for something like $100,000.

Im not saying he retired too early. In the past players like M.Waugh, Border, Gillespie etc.... always played one more year for there state, to give something back to them. Even If they didnt play Shied, it would of been great to see Hayden and Gilchrst in FR and KFC Big Bash. Gilchrsit has retired but can still find time to play for Middlesex and IPL and Hayden IPL.

Shane Bond put in a huge effort to strengthen his body during the last winter to allow him to come back and play test cricket for New Zealand, which he did this season. In his return match he was Player of the Match, even though he became injured. He then prepared for the next test match and once again broke down, a process he did once again playing FC cricket in NZ.
The impression that I have is that Bond wishes to play Test cricket for New Zealand but has been restricted by injury and admits that he can not be sure his body is up to the requirements. He has put in a LOT more hard yards than our own Slinger Tait in trying to play all forms of cricket.
