cricket season coming to an end

Postby hearts on fire » Tue Feb 16, 2010 4:46 pm

as the cricket season is coming to an end, i would like to hear all your thoughts on the 2009/2010 season.

i think this season as been some what boring at times, but has also had its moments.

Next season will better.

Tests: A good effort in Adelaide by the Windies and the third test not a bad one. The great escape in Sydney the highlight of the summer.

Teeball: WOFTAM but here to stay. Good, it can subsidise real cricket.

ODI: Gawn

Shield: Lots of injuries to the bowlers this year. Vics looking strong again, Backs a chance?

ODD: Some good cricket in the Franger.

Overall, not a great Cricket season but with the Englishmen here next year things will be much better next season.

Bit of a yawnfest unfortunately.

I really don't get into cricket like I used to.

Not having cricket on on a Saturday is a downfall IMO.

I long for the day when Australia play against a team that will consistently give them a run in all forms. As I've said previously, the Aussies being so good is killing some forms of the game.

A perfect arguement for summer footy hof.

Cricket Australia takes us all for idiots....!

SHAME....

If you went to cricket in 2009/2010, it was a waste of money. :D

How can AFL go to Adelaide...?

Only to save Cricket....

I'm sorry, but how can anyone sit through a 5 day test?

What would be the cost..?

or a 50 overs game anymore?

20/20 is the answer..!
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

What is happening to our SANFL guys...

Unfortunately we have to play all of the test-playing nations, it's not all about entertainment for the general public, it's about the status of each team.
How can the ICC win with Aussie supporters, we sook when we lose and sook just as much when we win.
I think the Windies and Paki's will both be far better teams from the experience this summer and they will both be big improvers over the next 5 years.

I should add, if you want to see a good contest, watch the domestic fifty fifty's. That's something that's been missing in our international season - a contest.

Our top 5 ODD teams would beat WI or Pak at the moment.

If some would like 50 over cricket to die due to a lack of crowds, what should we do with Sheffield Shield cricket ...

What happens when the next generation is bored with 20/20 cricket, do we bring in 10/10 just to keep the crowd happy. ODI's are good and should be here to stay just have to schedule it better and get rid of the 5 and 7 match series against weaker opposition e.g W.I, Pakis. Keep the 5 match series for the best sides. They should bring back the tri series and play the games that Australia isn't invoveld in at country venues e.g Bendigo, Wangaratta, Newcastle Ecounter Bay etc....

I'm a huge cricket fan but must admit for the first time in 45 years I will be glad it is finishing, has got to the stage i even get bored watching my son playing (and he's only playing average cricket), too much fancy crap and not enough of the skills that us oldies are used too, sad and sorry state when sportspersons can go out and in a couple of years make more money than many do in a working life, if this 20/20 stuff keeps going, (which it will) wont be long till even test cricket will suffer big time and die a slow painful death :( :(

Seems to have gone on for a long time, I remember a time when the one day games were all wrapped up in January.

I still like ODI games but they don't seem to be anywhere near as good as the games in the late 80's and 90's that I can remember, don't know why, maybe Australia weren't as dominate.

Looking forward to decent contest against the Kiwi's and Ashes next summer in Australia.

Are you seriously thinking that the kiwis will give us a decent contest. Struggled to beat Bangladesh in the last match.
