Obviously the power play has seen bigger scores since it's introduction, I have a question if anyone knows the answer.
Let's say it's the 41st over, Ajmal is about to bowl, Ponting calls a power play, can Pakistan then say "no Ajmal, you're not bowling now, we'll bring on Asif"

I would say he can as long as Ajmal hasn't started to bowl.

Correct. It has to be called at the start of the over as far as i understand and the fielding captain can change his bowler once notified of the batting sides powerplay.

Can the batting team then change their mind?

Once its signalled by the umpires there is no going back for the batting side.
But the bowling side can chane their bowlers once they have been told its a powerplay

I think a 50 over game with 50 overs of powerplays would be highly entertaining !

why not have these 50 over games split up in halves ?
eg
aust bat first & make 4/212
then the poms bat & are 6/201
then australia start the 2nd innings with the batsmen who finished the first innings
ditto for the poms,
however there is still only 10 wickets in the match per team

It would be very frustrating for the bowling side.

It will happen eventually IMO.

I really really hope this does not happen. Once it does, i will not watch it! The 50 over game IMO is still well and truly alive. It is just the media and the money hungry administrators that are diminishing the value of the 50 over game. Leave it as is, play 3-5 match series, no more, no less, with one t20 before each series. Thats how i hope it is in the future
