England in Bangladesh

Alastair Cook has been named as England's Test captain for their tour of Bangladesh in February and March, after the selectors opted to rest the regular captain Andrew Strauss, as well as their leading strike bowler, James Anderson, from the two-Test and three-ODI tour that also includes a two-match Twenty20 series against Pakistan in Dubai, in which Paul Collingwood will once again take charge.
Two uncapped players, the Yorkshire pace bowler Ajmal Shahzad and the Kent offspinner James Tredwell, have won places in both squads while another uncapped player, Hampshire's opening batsman, Michael Carberry has been included in the Test squad.

Dan Cullen got a gig by not resting players. We had a couple injuries. HIs debut also had the like of Warne and MacGill in the side. He was the 3rd choice spinner at the time and got a gig that way

No way!
He debuted in the 2nd test..we had only JUST won the 1st test (by 3 wickets) after the Bangas scored 427 and we replied with only 269
Ponting scored 118* in the 2nd innings to lead us home, BUT was dropped in the nineties.
In the 2nd Test the Aussie brought in Jaques to open (Hussey dropped down to replace Martyn who was dropped) and Cullen to replace Clark

Shane Warne has accused Andrew Strauss of showing a lack of respect to Test cricket by resting for England's tour of Bangladesh, and has questioned whether Alastair Cook is up to the task of leading the team in his absence.

England face an anxious wait to see if Stuart Broad and Graham Onions will be fit for the Test series against Bangladesh although were boosted when scans showed no major back problems in the two pacemen. They are hopeful the pair will be available for the first Test against Bangladesh on March 12 although neither will play the warm-up match starting on Sunday.

England's pace attack has been hit by a spate of injuries with Ryan Sidebottom ruled out of the Test series after aggravating a thigh problem during the first ODI, while Broad picked up his back problem during the second match and Onions has been struggling since arriving for the Tests.
