NZ Domestic cricket

It seems to come up a bit, especially with CoverKing, so lets have a thread to keep it together

Batting went into fifth gear at the Aorangi Oval in Timaru as Canterbury, boosted by Rob Nicol's century, hit 410 for 5 - a record total in New Zealand domestic cricket. Otago took up the challenge in their chase and Neil Broom, who helped himself to a big hundred, made Canterbury sweat but they ultimately won by 39 runs.

Cantebury 5/410
RJ Nicol 132 (108 balls)
PG Fulton 88 (61 balls)
MHW Papps 78 (79 balls)
SL Stewart 55 (21 balls)
Otago 7/371
NT Broom 164 (130 balls)
IG butler 53* (26 balls)

Good topic Brod.

Interesting to see Fulton, Papps and Broom all make runs. Three guys that are relatively close to the national side. All three have had chances but look a bit out of their depth at the international level. If they continue to make runs, we could well see Broom or Papps back in the side soon. But for mine, Fulton is way back in the pack IMO

Tillakaratne Dilshan is scheduled to touch down for a flying visit to New Zealand 90 minutes before Northern Knights play Wellington Firebirds in a Twenty20 domestic match on Friday. Dilshan caught a flight after Sri Lanka's tri-series win in Bangladesh on Wednesday and his journey to the Bay of Plenty is due to finish with a helicopter ride landing on the Blake Park outfield.

"It's a reasonably tight schedule, so if there are hold-ups it could well be the case that he steps out of the chopper and into the changing room to pad up", the Northern Knights coach Grant Bradburn said. "But for a player of Dilshan's calibre, we're absolutely prepared to accommodate that. Even if he doesn't arrive until five to five, as far as I'm concerned he's in the playing XI."

BROD what did Dilshan end up doing?? get a bowl? assuming he didnt make many!

Good to see McCullum back in form, and also Scott Styris continue to have a damn good run in the shorter forms. It gets me how he does perform, but he does and he is good to watch aswell.
Vettori had another cracking game. SUPRISE SUPRISE. Tim Southee performing in the shorter forms is good signs for NZ cricket aswell

Butlers 6/28 would have to close to a T20 record surely. OUtstanding figures.

It is a NZ Domestic T20 record

Sohail Tanvir 6/14 (rajasthan v Chennai, 4/5/08) holds the record.
Butler's 6/28 is the 7th occasion 6 wickets have been taken in an innings, and first since June 2008.

Jesse Ryder, the New Zealand batsman, will not be considered for selection for the home series against Bangladesh as he continues to struggle with a lower stomach muscle injury. Ryder had a recurrence of the injury while training, and there are serious doubts over his availability for New Zealand's home series against Australia as well as the ICC World Twenty20 in May.
