Australian cricketers have 2 balls ...

One of the innovations of the Franger Cup Domestic Comp 2009/2010 is the use of 2 new balls
I think its OK
BUT
Is it in the best interests of Australian International cricket ?

Lets do a projection of time as it is now
The domestic lads bowl with a shiny new ball from both ends
The International lads are in India bowling with 1 ball

In essence we are breeding domestic cricketers who then have to cope with different conditions internationally

Domestic teams might well only select one spinner or a part time spinner with the new rule
Military meduim pacers and part time trundlers might bowl more often than spinners
SA has already vanished Dan Cullen who was a good o/d bowler
Mark Cosgrove is now bowling more often

With a World Cup 50/50 coming up in the subcontinent spin is a big factor
AU does struggle on pitches with turn against quality spinners[reason is we dont face enough good spin at home]

QUESTION
Wise move the 2 new balls ?
I think not

Didn't they actually do this in the WSC comps during the 80's but because the balls stayed newer and swung for longer more wides were bowled? Though this might not be as much of an issue now with more day-nighters rather than 9.30-10.00 starts.

It would probably be in your best interests, as well as everyone else's best interests, for you to contribute only to threads that you have an interest in.

And for you to post in threads that contain interesting points, therefore you wouldn't be posting at all.
