ALL Franger Cup Live scores 2009/2010 not S.A. games

Postby mal » Sun Oct 11, 2009 3:54 pm

All live scores and comments for the Ford Ranger Cup games
These games involving
QL/NS/VI/TA/WA games
SA games should be covered in seperate threads

My prediction for the 2009/2010 season
My predicted finishing order b4 finals
1 VI
2 NS
3 TA
4 SA
5 WA
6 QL

QL
QL won the Franger Cup last year, but will finish with the wooden spoon this season
Losing Noffke/Watto will become insurmountable for the Bullys
And Carseldine cant make runs forever
Also Jimmeh Hopes will play for the Ozzies most of the season

WA
WA batting last season was deplorable
If they all click they can make the final

VI
Brilliant team , perhaps the best o/d team in the universe
Sensational batters, and very good bowlers

NS
Have plenty of depth to challenge the Vics
IF they get close to a full team to pick from can match the Vics

TA
Bat well, but concede too many runs when bowling
Do play o/d cricket very well as have dynamic batters

SA
Same as TA

WA V QL
WA won the toss inserted QL into bat
QL 9/161 [50] a miserable effort
CARSELDINE 54 [81] again the veteran makes runs
HARTELY 36[83] too slow
LAUGHLIN 14* [18]
DOREY 3/29 [10] good enough to play for AU
NOFFKE 1/19[10] senasational debut,star recruit
KNOWLES 3/53[10]

QL has a very brittle batting line up
This will be the case most of the season
They wont make enough runs for thier underrated attack to defend
DOREY/NOFFKE were just too good

WA should make the runs easily
RONCHI will he open ?, he is prob the most destructive batter in this comp IF he fires
RONCHI is almost a new recruit after a disMAL season 2008/2009
MARSH/RONCHI/NORTH/VOGES should do the job, but you never know with this mob
Lets hope MARSH does not pull a Wattostring .....

WA 5/62 [22]
The million dollar WA batters are succombing to the Baby Bull bowlers

WA were 1/50 [14.3]
I saw what might be the worst umpiring decison of the season
NORTH given caught behind of a ball he clearly missed
Bowler did not appeal, keep stopped appealing
Given out
Shocker
It was not former WA/SA quickie Paul Wilson who gave the decision

MARSH 5 fails agAin for WA but makes runs for AU
NORTH 24 unlucky
VOGES 0 a dreadful hoik
BANDY LBW 5 does not play a shout to a 125km pop gun bowler in a o/d game
W ROBiNSON 24 off 63 balls looked LOST IN SPACE !

GOLDEN GREEK DOROPOLOUS
FLUKE RONCHI
now batting
both are killer batters
Anyones game still, the WA late order + tail usually wags

Ronchi gone, to be expected. Might as well send a 10 year old kid out there and they'd last longer.

Ronchi= hack.

It's now 2/15 after 8 for McDermott. Who knows, with the pedigree he has, he may be a Test cricketer in years to come.

Twas a very, very good game. Domestic cricket= excellent.

Simpson, now tell me how he continues to get a game let alone captain his state? Worse than Adcock. Can't believe he took the final over. No way Queensland win withouot Noffke.

I used to think along similiar lines NFC but what I witnessed last night has changed my mind. For those of you who aren't aware, Queensland recorded a come from behind victory over the Worriers last night. The Worriers were bowled out for 225 in the 49th over which was a good thing for the Bulls as they were going to be fined .5 of a point for being tardy with the over rates.

The Worriers played a couple fo debutants in Fawcett and Towers who made six between them. Marcus North batted beautifully for 50 and Robinson made a well compiled half century as well although at a slower rate. Towards the end Theo Doropolous made 61 but 225 looked pretty light on for that wicket.

The young Bulls attack once again did the job and I have to say that Simpson clearly outpointed North in the captaincy stakes all night. He used his bowlers intelligently and picked up 3 wickets. He not only broke the large partnership (99 I think it was) between North and Robinson but he also picked up the key wicket of North as well. Simpson also has a fantastic set of hands and he has picked up two sensational one handed catches in two matches in the Franger Cup so far this year.

The innings was ended in spectacular style when Nathan Rimmington picked up a hat trick for the Bulls as man of the match Chris Hartley took a sensational catch to add to his earlier blinder. He also picked up two stumpings and scored 70 not out when the Bulls batted. It is fair to say he had a good game!

As usual for this time of year up here the rain came down and the Bulls had to get 197 in 37 overs! After Broad got out early Carlsedine and Hartley scored steadily but at one stage the Bulls needed over eight an over and they looked GAWN. Towards the end of the end of the innings Hartely was solid and he got some good support from Glen Batticcio and Craig Phillipson swung the bat at the end.

Simpson has only captained the side for two years and already the Bulls have won a Franger cup which is an excellent effort considering some of the talent that has exited the pavilion at the Gabba in recent years. I wont be underestimating the Bulls (in oned ay cricket at least) this season that's for sure.

WA 225 [ 48.1]
Another Duckworthless Jerry Lewis comedy

QL have to make 197 in 37 overs
13 overs deducted
28 less runs to win

At least this time both sides had a chance to win even though WA clearly got the better deal

SIMPSON
Soft batsman needs to improve
Good o/d bowler
Very good fieldsman
Very very good captain

QL I gotta say this mob are unbelievable
Look at the whos who who are no longer there from the last 2-3 years
BICHEL
HAYDEN
KASPER
LOVE
MAHER
NOFFKE
SYMONDS
WATSON
There might be a couple of missed
To rebulid with so many outs and perform so well is startling
They would almost have gone up the Gold Coast to see if REB could help out

Look at the injured this season
HARRIS
LAUGHLIN
SWANN

A remarkable unit

I stand by my Paine prediction. Ronchi will give you Pain. I watched an interview with him the other day and I detect very high levels of self doubt in his mental make up. Paine will one day wear Baggy Green.
