What the....
If SA finish top where will they host the 2009-2010 Shield Final ????????????????????????
Adelaide Oval will be hosting the Rugby Sevens World Series March 20-21
Whats goin' on.
First of all they knock down the George Giffen stand
For those who cant remember George playing he was the Shane Watson of the allrounders back in the late 1800s
Now we have this
The reason for the Rugby being played on these dates IS :
It was backdated by 2 weeks so it would not be played over Easter
So the question is where will SA play the SS Final if they finish top ?
Lets hope the Western Youth Centre ground on Marion Road is at least available

I think that we will not finish top, but in the very odd chance that we do, I suggest AAMI as it did host some cricket in the 70s, but with the Football to start at about that time, that rules that out. Maybe Glenelg as it has a proper cricket scoreboard.

Are you sure GLENELG......Glenelg oval is hardly suitable for district cricket. the pitch is junk, the curator puts no time into it and the oval surface is a joke......Glenelg oval hahahaha thats a very funny coment.

Well the SACA have to find a new home for the 2nd XI this season as their usual home ground is a mountain at present.
The only other venue to host a 1st Class match in this state does not have adequate facilities to host a match even though it has similar dimensions to the regular home ground.
Glenelg may have the facilities to accommodate the match but the pitch and outfield leave a bit to be desired.
Maybe Woodville could host but the condition of the outfield is far too slow these days.
Any of the remaining Grade home grounds are simply undesirable for 1st class cricket

It is only hypothetical, as, unfortunately, SA won't finish top...

would we have to give up the right to a home final?
You can't play the final of the best domestic comp in the world at a district ground surely?

yes, you're right. I had forgotten. Oh well, district ground it is then!
I guess it only has to fit in the media, team officials and immediate friends and family of the players these days.

Mal dont think that will be available. As everyone knows its the best oval in the state outside adelaide oval, but unfortunately due to the dominance of Western youth over the years, i would be backing the A grade to be hosting there Semi-final on the same dates.
SACA however do have some $$$ to maybe get us to move to our 2nd venue

2nd XI will be playing at Park 25, SACA have taken over one oval there for the High Performance squads for the whole season.

Take into account it's all hypothetical, but you need to remember that FoxSports covers this match. Therefore, they will only need one scaffolding at Woodville as the clubrooms can be used for one end of the ground.
And another question though, why did all three stands had to be knocked down for at the same time?

The Jellybacks can host the game at the ACC, that is the Atlantis Cricket Ground. Attending the match will be the Loch Ness Monster, an honest politican and the Tooth fairy. Sherlock Holmes will be coming out to toss the coin for the big match and the special guests will be Fremantle's premiership winning side. Unicorns, Dragons, Tintin, Asterix and Leprachauns will also be in attendance and they'll be selling Fudd beer at 2c a glass which will automatically fill itself up like the Magic Pudding. Should be a great day. GEAR.

REB

How can someone with such a finely attuned sense of humour miss mally's golden opener?

Uni # 1 would make sense.
Long room and stand currently undergoing rennos.
Temporary stands could go on the eastern side.
