Good chance for some players to boost their averages.

Promises to be one of the most lop-sided series in history.
Simply an embarassment for the game if it goes ahead.

So the $1M plus each Windies player got for that $20M one-off T20 match against the Poms wasn't enough???

Without knowing the ins and outs the West Indies brass have supposedly been borderline corrupt for years. Players and coaches have complained about the sub-standard working conditions in respect to the amount of money coming in. There's been farcical situations in recent times with their pitches and stadiums too. The fact that so many players have gone on strike too says to me it's not solely about the players trying to improve their financial conditions and that big Stanford T20 money didn't come from the West Indies board but via a dodgy businessman.
It will be disappointing if the Test series here happens as it shouldn't but CA will no doubt go ahead with it.

You know, I used to think at the end of the footy season that it was ok, cos cricket was just around the corner. Despite what everyone says about our great game, the brand is still in tact (AFL that is). Unfortunately the same can't be said for cricket. The brand has been damaged for whatever reason and personally I can't really be bothered with cricket as much as I used to. I'll still watch it, because there isn't much else on but I don't hold it in the "must see" or "must be there" type sporting events I used to.

Payback time
WI V AU in the Caribean tour
It was a series played during the Kerry Paupers matches
AU sent over a b grade team captained by the middle aged Bobby Simpson
AU banned the Packer players from playing tests at that stage
WI won the first 2 tests and played the Packer players
We had a farce Simpson and a few B graders facing Roberts and Garner
The last 3 tests the Packer players didnt play
AU won1
WI won 1
DRAW 1
We lost 3-1 overall
No matter who they send over AU will win the series
In fact this might be a blessing for the WI
the current lot will never be the number 1 test etam in the world
Perhaps this lot might rebuild into a better team

I'd hate to see the crowd figures if that does eventuate. Still, I'll be there on one of the days.

Why would CA not play this game? I don't ever recall a tour being cancelled because the other team didn't look very strong. And if CA were to cancel then they would be buying into the players side of the argument, an argument we have no place in. This is simply (another) dispute between the WI players and the WI board. Our concern is to play against whoever they send over.

I hope it is a chance for a young player ala Ferguson to replace Hussey and find his feet at the level before playing against the powerhouses in the upcoming years. Instead of prolonging Husseys career.

CA & the selectors would never have the foresight to treat the series like that...
I think even if the Windies sent over their best possible team, they'd still cop a flogging.
