Pietersen out! Bad news, Good news

Postby rod_rooster » Thu Jul 23, 2009 12:02 am

Bad news is that Kevin Pietersen is out for the rest of the Ashes after having surgery on his achillies. Given his form and ego he was a liability to the Poms.

Good news is that this means that Ravi Bopara will almost certainly keep his spot for the rest of the series. He is a massive dud and can only boost the spirits of the Aussies as with him at three they know one wicket brings two.

Ian Bell will come in and unfortunately with no Warne to mentally destroy him he may actually make runs :(

Very good news and like you said it almost assures Bopara of keeping his spot. Bell's nothing to worry about.

I always thought the hype about Bell and Warne was a bit overdone to be honest, Has dismissed him 5 times which yes is quite a few but 3 of them were in England 2005 which was the first time Bell had ever played Warne or Australia. He played him quite well in Australia 2 years later.

I always thought he had far more trouble with McGrath.

Good news for Australia about Pieterson and therefore Bopara but bad news for the series, I know who i would rather watch bat and it is not the current number 3.

I had to have a bit of a personal giggle watching this pony, the ball would be defended to him at point and he would ditch it at the keeper as fast as he could, I thought "he's going to stuff one of them up soon", sure enough he did, he had also hit the wickets in a pathetic attempt at a run out to cause over-throws, he tried to flick the ball back from the outfield to a team-mate that didn't work and made him look stupid.
One bit of advice for the dude, play the game son and stop trying to be the centre of attention.
