Freddy Flintoff retires

UPDATE: ENGLAND superstar Andy Flintoff has announced his retirement from Test cricket.
The injury-riddled England talisman will play until the end of the Ashes series and then quit the five-day game.
""My body has told me it's time to stop. Since 2005 I've had two years when I've done nothing but rehab from one injury or another," Flintoff said.
""It's been something I've been thinking about for a while and I think this last problem I've had with my knee has confirmed to me that the time is now right.
The man they call ""Fred" has tossed in his Test cap to preserve his battered body for one-dayers and Twenty 20 matches. The 31-year-old may be eyeing off the 2011 World Cup and wants to keep his lucrative Indian Premier League contact with Chennai.
It is major news on the eve of the second Test at Lord's.
Flintoff was the star of the 2005 Ashes but his body has continually let him down in recent years.
After recently returning from knee surgery, his knee problem has flared up again and he is in doubt to play the second Test with Steve Harmison on standby.
Flintoff, 31, has played 76 Tests, scoring 3708 runs at 31.69 and taking 219 wickets at 32.51.
He will remain a multi-million superstar in the IPL where he was sold for US$1.55milllion earlier this year
