You're one short here HOF.

No room for a fully fit Brett Lee or Stuart Clark? For mine, Siddle has gone past Clark but a fully fit Lee is better than Hilf. I also think the team needs either a spinner or MacDonald (whose tight bowling is underrated).

On the basis that Mr Cricket has either been worked out or past his best (he has 1 more test to convince me) I'd look at Callum Ferguson at 5 and shift Clarke to 4.

I chose my side on the players we have at the moment, but you can include the injured Lee and Clark.

Siddle has been very very good.. but he has not gone past Stuart Clark

You must have Lee & Clark if they are fit

REB, couple observations, if binga was to come back surely he would bat below Mitch wouldn he??
also Paine, IMO would now have moved to 4th and may even 5th for the test side as a keeper. He is behind Haddn, Manou, Hartley and maybe even Wade. Paine's form with the bat has been very suspect this year, where the other 4 have had really good years. I think Wade being the 20 year old, could quite well find himself as the next keeper, altho Hartley and Manou, if there are any injuries, would get the gig now IMO

As big a fan as i am of Paine he has had a poor season and could not be in contention at the moment. He eventually will be a Test cricketer but needs to become more consistent.

OK, I see your logic regarding Paine over Manou, Hartley and Wade, fair enough. However, you surely can't believe that Paine is the better choice over Haddin?

didng rogers have more experience then Hughes?? i think Paine has dropped down to 5th in my view, but at the same time i see your logic about Hartley and Manou

When you all discuss keepers how many of you have watched any state game and really analized the keepers techniques and performances????????? Or do you just look who is making runs therefore they are the superior keeper?

Glovework alone Paine and Manou are the 2 best with Haddin next Folowed by Hartely Ronc's and Wade is a long way behind them.

Batting wise Haddin is streets ahead Paine next easily with 1 day hundreds 4 day hundreds and a double hundred. Wade hearts and ronc's next and even though Manou has had few solid seasons with the bat he still isn't as consistant and prob wouldn't be picked for batting alone but has improved greatly.

So I think paine is next cab off the rank.

LMAO RONCHI He isnt even getting a game for WA. The best keepers IMO are in this order. Manou, Hartley, Haddin, Wade, Paine (i would nearly go as far as having wade and paine ahead of haddin) and daylight - then Ronchi.

Batting wise and consistency, Manou is 2nd behind Haddin going on the last couple of years (not looking at the s*** start he had to his career, hislast 2 years have been great), Wade is improving but still behind and has looked the real deal as a 21year old, then i would say Paine just ahead of an ever improving Hartley with the bat.

Paine has only made 1 ton in 53 first class innings with 4 not outs. He has 11 50's. Average of 30.04 in first class and 34 in the one dayers. (24 years of age)

Wade has made 2 tons and 4 fifties in 27 innings with 5 not outs. Average of 36.81 (21 years of age)

Manou has made 5 tons and 15 fifties in 149 innings and 16 not outs. Has an average of 24.51 and one day average of 21. (29 years of age)

Hartley has made 3 tons and 15 fifties in 80 innings with 13 innings with an average of 28.44 and one day ave of 20.25 (26 years of age)

and district cricketer RONCHI has scored 3 tons and 9 fifties in 59 innings with 7 not outs. Average for four day is 33.07 and one day is a shitty 26 (and he played for australia thats a joke) (nearly 28 years of age)

So IMO if they are going to bypass Manou, i would like them to go Wade. He will be a long term player for Australia IMO. Paine is good but i would prefer Wade as a batter and keeper. Hartley could get the gig because his batting is now taking off, is a great keeper and is only 26 years of age. Ronchi is carp

Good post. Anyone who thinks Ronchi is any good clearly hasn't seen much cricket. He is generally hyped up by the media because of his batting and realistically that is absolutely crap. He is very very ordinary with the bat and just because he hit a couple of sixes in 20/20 garbage people think he's good. Newsflash it's 20/20 not cricket. As for his keeping he is terrible. There is no way he is up to first class standard with the gloves. He is really bad.

I really don't want to see Australia get carried away too much with the batting side of things with the keeping position. The job of the keeper is to keep not bat. If they can bat then it's a bonus. The best keeper at the moment is Hartley closely followed by Manou and Wade. Paine long term should be the guy to do the job but he has had an ordinary year and is probably out of contention at this stage.

Ronchi has been a media favourite since he smashed a 60 odd ball 100 when he first stepped on the scene in ODD format.

One innings and people think he is a god. He is a poor adam gilchrist (which is no shame i suppose cause he was a freak)

IMO i see Wade being the long term keeper, because there is not much difference between him and paine, and i think unfortunately, it will come down to who is making runs and in form at the right time.

Wade is a good keeper but i do not think he deserves the accolades that a few are throwing around just yet, his keeping is good without being brilliant, His batting is excellent but his keeping still needs a bit of work to be International Standard.

Tim Paine is a favourite of mine but he had a poor year this year and a pretty poor back end the previous year so he has probably slipped down the pecking order.

You could really throw a blanket over Paine, Hartley, Wade and Manou IMO and whenever Haddin hands over the reigns it will be to whoever is in the best form and the selectors like at that stage most likely out of the younger brigade (Paine and Wade). Ronchi is destined to be a one day cricketer only unless something dramatic happens and Hartely might just be unlucky but it really depends on how long Haddin can keep scoring runs because if he stops doing that then he is doing neither jobs to the standard we need from an Aussie wicketkeeper and he will be shown the door.

I hope it is Paine but i have he might have to wait a little longer than we expect.

Would you really take only 3 bowlers into a Test match? Obviously this is about people's ideal lineups so i'm not having a go i'm just curious as to the thinking behind only 3 bowlers. I assume you would be thinking North, Clarke, Katich and Hodge would do a fair bit of bowling?
