According to Fox Sports now a chance for Ashes second keeping spot, now with Ronchi dropped from warriors and Manou racking up some scores.
Big month ahead, another ton or 2 and could be on the plane!

Assuming they take 17, likely to be 14 and 15 for teh one-dayers and tests respectvely. Given that so many players play in England in the off-season they could be called in if injuries get bad. there have been mumurings already from CA that given teh two seprate tours now (onedayers then tests) unlikely to take 16 and 17 players on tour again.
With young Hughes being a handy 'keeper I think you'll find he'll cover Haddin on tour (county matches)
Anyways IMO Wade, Hartley and Paine (in no particular order) are ahead of him in the cue.
Doesn't Ronchi have a broken finger?

Given the selectors are happy with Haddin, one could assume he has a few years ahead of him in the job. That means any back up they take anywhere will be a youngster, which Choc isn't.
He should have found a purple patch of batting form a few years ago and he could have been headed for the spot Haddin now has.

Tim Paine should tour before Manou IMO anyway.

Australia wont take a backup keeper. Unfortunately Hughes will tour and can keep if needed.

If Manou boards the plane, I support another country.

How patriotic of you. Any chance you could take your pal Watto to another country with you?

I think he means that unfortunately Hughes will be used as a backup keeper rather than taking a specialist backup keeper. I don't think he is meaning that he thinks it's unfortunate that Hughes will tour.

Actually, I reckon that's what he does think, oddly enough.

of coarse they will take a back up keeper. They dont want there opener to have to keep if haddin gets injured. to much pressure on a bloke who is yet to debut. but i think Choc will go he is only 29 and he is definently the best gloveman in the country, and he will get picked by the selectors in the Team of the year again

I stand corrected. I'd be interested in hearing the reasoning from Pidge if he does indeed mean he doesn't think Hughes should tour.

nah choc has better hands than Hartley. i cant find it on the net, but i remember on the cricket show last year they asked all first class wicket keepers who is the best at wicket keeping in aus. everyone said manou except for himself

Each to their own. Hartley has improved out of sight with his batting this year and his keeping has improved as well. I'm not suggesting Manou isn't an excellent keeper but i personally think Hartley just has him covered with the gloves. Manou has Hartley just with the bat.

I don't think Manou will ever get picked for Australia but I would love it if it did happen. Nothing wrong with another South Aussie in the team.

Chris Hartley was woeful with the gloves in the onedayer last week, fumbled plenty of throws from the boundary. Although, compared to Haddins glovework he is a genius. Brad Haddin is the worst wicketkeeper ive ever seen and he will cost Australia a test sooner rather than later. In fact, i would be shocked if there was a worse one in the history of test cricket. Oh, and he is also a cheat!
My two keepers for the ashes would be Tim Paine, with Choc as his backup.

Adam Crosswaite is sooo far this country's best keeper it's not funny. If only his batting followed suit he'd be in the team right now.
