Borgas or Cosgrove

Been reading the posts in the victoria v south australian game 50 over thread
There seems to be a consensus supporting a Cosgrove selection
There also seem to be a few Borgas critics

Here are the comments made about Borgas in the victoria v south australia game

" Borgas gone for a duck one of the most pathetic shots ever under the circumstances."

" There are people not making runs in the short form of the game like Borgas."

" Why was Borgas playing in the one day side in the first place."

" Surely its time to cut the losses with Borgas???? Honestly has he made a score of note yet this season."

Borgas o/d scores this season

59
39
31
38
then was dropped to make way for Younis Khan, a poor decision after his first 4 digs ?
0

I think looking at his efforts this season he has been very good in the middle order, and who can forget the 6 he hit against western australia in the 50th over to win us the game
If we go back to that game there were plenty of Borgas fans posting

Just for the record here is his sheffield shield form this season

1
14
105 [in a 265 partnership with Klinger]
0
60
90 not out
32
0
8

Bit hit or miss but once he gets going he converts this season

In all he has failed 6 times in all forms this season in 14 innings
5 times against his bogey team victoria
o/d v vic, 0
shield v vic, 1, 14, 0 ,8

Irrespective of how Borgas finishes the season , the critics need to eat thier words

As for Cosgrove, you could say an enourmous talent, his turn will come again

As for Younis Khan, do we really need him replacing guys like Borgas in the team ?

Fair points panther, Borgas hasn't had that bad a season a suppose but was still a pathetic shot today in the position they were in.

Yes. Khan is world class and brings more to the side than just runs. He is a gun who we should be grateful to have in the side.

I'm iNot against having Kahn play for us BUT at the end of the day i think that SA would still have managed to finished bottom without him. ;)

On a Positive note, maybe he's partly responsible for Fergs improvement this year.

Oh no .... someone played a poor shot in limited over cricket. That never happens does it?

As much as I have a dig at him from time to time, I'd have Cosi in there, it could be a bias decision though, he attends the juinor PDCA presentations and conducts himself very well, he'll get a few d!ckheads asking stupid unnecessary questions and trying to take the p!ss but manages to deflect them and give positive feedback to aspiring young cricketers.

He's probably paid the penalty for reaching great heights at a young age, go Cosi, bounce back young fella.

Ok panther i can see his season has been far from terrible but i think your comment highlighted above is incorrect. I have left all the scores of which i consider to be a start or one he has converted. The 105 and 90 not out are IMHO the only starts he has converted. I don't call 59 and 60 converting. So i would say that he has had 8 starts and converted two of them which i don't think is a great record, i would like to see a guy batting at4,5,or 6 convert more than 25% of his starts into good scores. Does anyone agree with me or am i being harsh on him?

does nit really matter fo the next game with Tommy Cooper almost certain to miss the next Shield and Ford ranger match with a Fractured Skull. so Cosgrove will come in for him and there is no one in Club Cricket batting better than Borgas.
and Ferguson will miss the next Ford Ranger due to international Duties. and if he scores runs he could be in the squad for the last two games and miss the queensland shield game as well.

So for the next Ford Ranger match on sunday against WA there will be at least 2 changes
Ferguson and Cooper out
Cosgrove and Andy Delmont/ J Brown in ???

Interesting read on the SA Churches comp thread, Cosi's name was getting thrown around as a possible Vista player next season, WTF. From state cricket to hard wicket in a not very strong league.

HAHA. That was from some random poster who has NFI. Would love to bowl to him though.

Western Australia V South australia f/r game

Borgas 49*in 101 balls
Cosgrove 41in 53 balls first game of the season

Cosgrove got his chance in the team in Perth today with Ferguson playing for Australia, with Cooper sconned by Harwood last game and out for the season.

Cosgrove now has an average of 41 this season in F/R !

Borgas 59,39,31,38,0,49 not out in the F/R averages 43

Just maybe Ferguson will inspire the other babybacks to greater heights

With Fergy/Cooper/Khan and now possibly Harris out injured it means these 2 can have no pressure for spots on them and might just kick on from here
