How much longer will the selectors give him? His keeping is diabolical and I know his batting is saving him but even that is begining to struggle....maybe we've been spoilt too long with Gilly but seriously his keeping alone is deadset terrible, never seen so many dropped catches and byes since he's taken over then not too mention last night taking the ball before the stumps WTF?? what Keeper does this?
I think he will be persisted with for quite a while yet but at age 33 or something surely this is not good for Australia for years to come....is it time for a Tim Paine?

Keep up the good work Riddler you only have 9 more Aussie players to start theads about how bad they are.... maybe Mitchell Johnson next because he has been dissapointing bowling leg stump lines etc....
Like you said we have been spoilt with Gilly.

I merely asked what does Hopes bring to the team and how much longer will Haddin be given.
I've never rated either of these guys and just wanted to know what everybody else thinks.
I agree Australia is still a force in Cricket and were just beaten by a very, very good side in South africa and that would be shown against NZ with a 5 nil win but last night was terrible and not good signs...i'm putting it down to a form slump.

Just think that our bowling is not as good as previous and so we need the best gloveman. We cant afford to miss any chances at the expense of a an average 10 extra runs an innings

I thought the amount of runs he saved down the leg side was outstanding yesterday. He was given a real Test by some wide deliveries and in-swingers.

Mate I have no doubt that in time Tim Paine will get his chance, but at the moment, he is deemed by the selectors to be the best keeper in Aus. If thats because his batting is reasonable then so be it. But at the moment hes probably safe for a while.

Vettori was very mild in his condemnation of Haddin after the game.

For Ponting to say that Vettori called Haddin a cheat is the biggest attempt at spin and damage limitation after yet another loss I've ever seen.
Having now seen the footage Haddin would have known his gloves hit the wickets and he should have said so at the time.

I believe Haddins body language said it all....shocking effort.All he had to do is at least raise the question in the seconds afterwards.Another storm created by inept officials on the ground and I mean both of them not just ol' blind Steve Bucknor. Haddin had his chance and made his choice and in my opinion got it wrong.I do not believe he had no doubt in his mind at all by his reaction immediately afterwards.As for the circus afterwards ponting should have said no comment until viewing the replay if he had not seen it as claimed.

It all evens out.
Vettori was given not out by the 3rd umpire, when he was Out, and went on to hit the winning runs.

brad haddin is a
brash, cocky & a big headed big mouth to say the least (to know this all you had to do was go to a shield match & you could as you can with all players hear what is being said most of the time)
he is a CHEAT as i said in the aust v nz thread, i've kept wickets (not very good though) & he would know he knocked the stumps/bails & should have asked the umpire to check the replay....now he goes down in some eyes (including dan vettori & me) as a CHEAT

What about all the batsman that don't walk when they know they are out. If they don't ask for a replay are they cheats? Arguably that's worse ... assuming Haddin wasn't 100% sure. And we can't be certain Haddin was certain in a split second. We also can't be certain if the ball wouldn't have hit the stumps anyway.
The done thing is to wait for the Umpire to call it. Why do we expect Haddin to act differently to the set (competitive) standard? Do the rules even allow it to be reviewed by the third umpire?
Finally, had it gone to a third umpire it wouldn't have been conclusive enough to over-rule the decision on the field.
As Steve Waugh said, there are far more important issues in cricket right now.

Above is my opinion on his work behind the stumps, however, bayman reminded me of the 2006 ING cup final again when Thornley dropped a catch and someone said that Haddin carried on like a pork chop about it.
