Fight for SA tour spots

Well it is hotting up with the three Shield games that got underway today. There is the openers spot up for grabs. Jaques and Hughes playing together, Rogers and Klinger the outsiders also playing in the same match.

So far:

Jaques out for 9
Rogers out for 24
Hughes 46* (big opportunity to put himself in the box seat)
Klinger yet to bat

(no other realistic chances i wouldn't think)

The spinners spot is also up dfor grabs and Krezja and Hauritz are going head to head. They both get to bowl on the same pitch and show what they've got. Mcgain will also have a chance to impress against SA and who knows with a good performance he could leapfrog both of the others.

So far:

Krezja 0/21 off 10
Others yet to bowl.

The allrounder/middle order batsman position is also there for the taking. McDonald would need a big game you'd think. Symonds has a chance to impress and get himself back in the team. There are a host of others around who also have a chance including North and Klinger (yes i know i mentioned him in the openers spot but he isn't without a chance of getting in at number 6). Marsh and D. Hussey who are in the ODI side aren't without a chance either.

So far:

Symonds out for 5
No others have had a chance as yet.

The fast bowlers will realistically be selected from who is left standing. Most of them are injured and there is not a lot of choice. Basically anyone on the fringe that is fit will probably get a tour. Bollinger has his chance to grab a spot. Basically to grab a spot he just needs not to get injured. Will Siddle and Lee be fit in time? Johnson will have a massive workload in SA and i hope he doesn't break down. Hilfenhaus and Bracken are a chance too you'd think and if any more blokes break down even Ryan Harris could get a call up

This will be a very very interesting round of Shield cricket.

Where can you get live scores for the QLD match RR?

Symonds disappointing 5.

I think Symonds may be finished at Test Match Level. It's looking less and less likely that he will get a spot on the tour to SA. He only scored 7 in Grade Cricket on the weekend and combined with his poor test match form in the SA series and his off field behaviour in recent times the selectors would have to be mad to pick him.

I think off field beahviour has nothing to do with it, especially when most of it is media beat ups. His form has been shocking though and doesn't warrant selection. I would still like to see him make the squad just because I like watching him play, but that's not likely to happen.

Hughes 118* batting with Simon Katich currently. He might need to get used to that.

Noffke is certainly a name alot of people have forgotten. Very similar to A.Bichel.

Unlucky guy. Selectors should have him as the Number 1 All Rounder.

Is Lee going to be fit for this series? would be good to have a little bit of experience back, although he didn't really bowl well before his injury.

Needed 1 tall bouncy fast bowler who can open or bowl first change.
A bowler who might be able to keep up the pressure from overs 40-90 where we have let South Africa and India off the hook in our beaten series

Needed a leg spinner not an off spinner, the proteas thrive on offies
A bowler who might be able to take wickets between overs 40-90 where we have let South Africa off the hook in the last test series

The spinner must be Mcgain

The tall bouncy quick bowler I will submit is Brett Dorey
I have mentioned before , its a pity he is 31 years old

20. 2 overs 6/28 versus Queensland

Rod Rooster can you please include the big fish please

If fit i think Noffke is a huge chance to tour SA and England. He can bat at 7 and let Haddin bat at 6 and Johnson can stay at 8. He is much more than a part time bowler as well which as others have stated we need to be able to apply more pressure when the front line bowlers are on. The selectors will be watching McGain with great interest when he gets the chance to bowl to the redbacks, hopefully later today.
