IMO! The practise of bring overseas players into the redbacks side is only taking the oppertunities of talented young local players who have SA at heart. Is this why the REDBACKS are all over the place in their preformances of late?

How are they being all over the place as of late, if anything I am enjoying the way the Redbacks are playing their cricket this year. Been alot better infact. Was it an issue in the 70's and 80's when we had international players come out? I beleive it improves players and having 1 or 2 come in and introduce an international flavour to squads will only help Australian cricket.

Exactly. The Redbacks have improved a lot this season, even the recent Twenty20... they scored over 180 while in the past it would have been a score closer to 80.
I see no problem with Younus Kahn coming into the side, he is loving it and the other lads can learn a lot off him. Hopefully the bowlers can learn a thing or two off this Tanvis fella too.
As you said, it's not a new thing... it happened a lot in the past as well and I for one hope it continues.

The international recruits are not really taking the spots off young local talent. The international blokes are saving us from putting dismal performances on the park when the locals are clearly not up to the standard.
Playing First Class standard cricket in Australia is possibly the toughest in the World. If Younnis Kahn and co would like to test themselves here then all the best.

Exactly. If these guys were average players then maybe they are taking a spot from locals. Younus Kahn is one of the best batsman in the world and Tanvir was the best bowler at the IPL and from what I've seen of him in both matches so far he would be up there in consideration as the best T20 bowler in the world. You'd rather see Rofe getting smacked around all over the place than the class of this guy?
The guy who started this thread needs to keep in mind that after going winless in T20 last season in our first two games we've beaten WA comfortably and just lost to Victoria on the second to last ball of the match. Both were the finalists last season and Victoria have won something like 14 of their past 15 T20 games. A great start to the season.
Hopefully Tait can get up for Tuesday nights game against NSW, I'd love to see how he and Tanvir would go together.

What would you learn from the current imports!? Q. What position are the redbacks in the shield ladder? Are these players here for the season or 2 or 3 if not what good are they? YOU have no faith in the local talent, state cricket is about giving the young player from THIS STATE(not world wide) the chance above all else! to represent SA. We Bring these guys out to to australia so they can learn from the best

T20 is about getting fans to cricket which is great, as for ROFE i dont even rate the guy, there is a lot better than him out there.

You think the younger batsmen would learn nothing from one of the finest batsmen in the world? Surely talking to him and watching how he goes about training and preparation would be great for young players. Similar with Tanvir for the bowlers. It's not like they are preventing anyone good from playing anyway. Perhaps in watching and learning from these guys one day the young players may be able to perform at a first class level.

Sure what a lovely bunch of hacks we have to choose from.

Well Kahn can teach blokes what sort of discipline it takes to play international cricket, different techniques at training and professionalism which is something the state has lacked in the past 5-6 seasons. Also different ways to play spin bowling as the sub-continent countries play spin better than anyone. Tanvir can teach blokes how to move the ball each way whilst also exposing them to world class bowling at training and during games and different techniques at training.
Who is going to take Kahns spot, some overweight, egotistical bloke whos professionalism consists of 4 weeks ago writing himself of in city till all hours of the mornings and shaking up bottles of rtd vodka and spraying it over everyone at the bar including myself.
Also heard from Jason Gillespie himself once that he had no idea how to do reverse swing bowling until he met Wasim Akram at a training camp once and he then showed him.

Also you do not see the positives from sheild scores. Look at the totals week in/week out SA are puting on the board. You have tunnel vision my friend and if you can't see the improvement SA have done this year you are either 1 of 2 things. 1-You have not watched much of SA play this year and just look at ladders or 2- You have no idea about cricket and the development of talent.

How many internationals do NSW have float in and out of their change rooms throughout the season? The Australian players are also internationals...
We are playing catchup and this is a great way to jump start the process.

The local have been solid to out standing at times, but cant say that about the internationals. lets face it ryan harris left because the prospect of winning a premiership here was zero.

So he went to the only State that finished below SA in the Pura Cup last year

Makes perfect sense.
