3rd dead Test Match, Aust v SAf @ SCG

Usually New Years tests start on the 2nd, but this summer, to give the players an extra days break, it will start on the 3rd.
Start of play will be 10 am Adelaide time - or 10.30 am Sydney time.

Hope McDonald plays and gets 0,0 and 0/100, Bollinger 0/200, Hayden 0,0 and we lose by an innings and 250 runs so maybe that's what it'll take to get some fresh blood. :D

Problem is both are as average as they come. McDonald isn't going to take wickets on the international stage so why bother? Watson is our best all-rounder and he's injured so no point trying to find one who is average. I'd rather Hopes. Go with the specialist bastman at 6 for crying out loud, and play Hilf over Bollinger.

Good Post, why has hopes been left out of the thoughts? surely he is a better chance at making it as a number 6 and getting more wickets

I feel for Hopes, what did he do wrong for Australia? I thought he performed quite well. McDonald is just such a joke of a selection, as if he's going to be able to take wickets! It's laughable. Just strengthen the batting and play Hussey at 6! I don't get why that is so hard?

And it's official, McDonald WILL play in Sydney. Good grief. :?

What about this for a fact on mc donald but don't think is needed bat that much so far with his state with vics thrashing everyone.

Andrew McDonald this year has scored 324 runs @ 46.28 and taken 15 wickets @ 23.93

LMAO

The coach hasn't been part of team selections since 1995, when Mark Taylor successfully negotiated to have Simmo removed as a selector. Said it created a conflict of interest having a coach involved in selections made players more reticent to come to him with problems fearing they could be used against him when it came to selecting teams.
