Cautious start 0/21, looks like a belter of a pitch

Sad to see a great career splutter to an embarrasing end.

Look at the swing Kallis is getting, and think about the fact that we've gone in without a swing bowler. They'd better hope the conditions change a bit.

Also Ponting looks totally lost against Kallis atm but at least we aren't recovering from 3/20 or thereabouts.

How was Punter's 6 before? Amazing flick off the hips. He is looking ok but needs to go on with it, the Kat is the same old Kat.

Think you will find FD that there is very overcast conditions there. As the ball gets older it will swing significantly no matter who the bowler is. I agree on the pitch, looks to be a blinder for a test

Looks that way doesn't it.

And -another- half century from the Kat! What a player he has been for us so far this summer.

1/86

DROPPED!!!!!! McKenzie puts down a sitter! Good delivery but poor shot from Ponting, very lucky.

You need to go on with this now skipper!

Last over before Lunch as well. 1/89.

Huge let off....

McKenzie might want to put some runs on the board this test aswell..... Rumour is that a world class opener in South Africa has just come out of AA and might be pushing for selection.....

That gives me confidence to be honest; Steyn inconsistent, Morkel just rubbish and a slip drops an absolute sitter of a catch. They aren't on early here.

Like AFL footballers, they find the money too hard to give up and stay on one season too long..

Hughes in, Hayden out.

But judging by the comments Ponting and co made in regards to the Hilf, Hughes won't play for 10 years.

500 is a total needed on a pitch such as this one I beleive. No matter the deck 500 is a very good 1st innings total. See what we can do.
