He's 25 and has tons of ability as we all know; his swing would be an invaluable addition to our attack. He seems to have got his body right now and with the Ashes less than a year away I think the time is right to get some test cricket into him. Agreed?

I do think so . He can swing the ball very well. Can he reverse swing it in pomy land? Only one way to find out.

He would be a very big chance of getting his chance soon. I have watched him for a few seasons now and i am very very impressed.

Agreed, agreed, agreed.
He could potentially be VERY good in England with the swing he gets. He's made a ripper start to the Australian summer and should be 'fast tracked'.
PS. Big fan of his opening bowling partner Geeves too.

Lee, Clark and Johnson will get first crack at the kiwis, but I feel that Lee and Clark are only one poor performance in a test match away from being omitted. Definately need to find a swing bowler Hilf and Tait the obvious choices.

Don't worry about playing the Hilf we have Cam White and Hussey

Geeves wont get a game, when do Australia ever select form bowlers?
Hilfenhaus is the best swing bowler in the country and needed to be over in India to add some variety to the attack. Mitchell Johnson is terrible and needs to be outed ASAP. He can't hold the ball properly to get regular swing and i truly believe he has no idea where each delivery is going. Hilfy all the way for me!
Unfortunately, the kiwis are awful at the moment and the incumbent players will all get bags in that series which will make everyone forget the major weaknesses of the bowling attack. I can honestly see Sth Africa winning the test series later in the summer and the Ashes heading back to England with this attack.

Disagree!
He, I, and everyone else knows where each delivery is going...a metre outside the off stump!
He's average I reckon, got potential, can bowl pretty darn quick, but just does not move the ball enough.

Johnson's problem is he cant swing it into the right hander. As soon as it starts outside off the batsman can leave with confidence...
Im on the wagon, get Hilf in. If he was from NSW he'd have played 20 tests by now..

Not often, Askley Noffke has represented Australia on only 3 occassions (1 ODI, 2 T20I)

I'd like to see him play in the second test in place of Siddle. Nothing against Siddle but we're lacking a bit of variety and the Hilf's swing might prove handy. Best to get a look at a couple of these young quicks while that spot is up for grabs and see who takes the opportunity best imo.

Good call, and get him in there while hes young, no point putting him in the side when hes 30 or so.......

with all these form bowlers around the place (without metioning the likes of bollinger) sounds like stuart clark might struggle to get back in the side. Not a moment to soon, no good against the worlds best batsmen and only ever has sucess against mediocre batsmen and even more mediocre pitches. Hilfenhaus would be a good addition to a bowling lineup that could form a strong partnership for many years to come (hilfenhaus, johnson, siddle, tait)

personally i think Tait could become a fixture in the one day/t20 games but i believe his test career is over before it really took off.

I do like siddle but I think your right. A genuine swing bowler would be useful.

Yeah and with all due respect to Siddle we wouldn't be losing much in making the change given Hilfenhaus's ability and the output of Pete in the first test. The extra variety however could mean a significant gain.

Tait is poo, can bearly take a wicket for the Redbacks. He won't play for Australia for a few years, might get a go when Lee retires, but then get dropped again straight after.
