JON 'DUTCHY' HOLLAND

The Vics might have unearthed something special in 21 year old rookie Jon Dutchy Holland
2/44 [10] on debut v SA in a o/d game.
With WHITE in India
With MCGAIN injured little known HOLLAND bowled superbly on debut
HOLLAND bowls left arm orthodox finger spin [similar to another Victorian Paul Jackson]
The ball he bowled FERGUSON on was a rip snorter
It appeared to pitch on leg and hit off stump, the ball of the year perhaps !
HOLLAND had 2/10 [3] and in those first 3 overs almost became the best spinner in Australia !

Heres some snippets from one of my favourite sports writers Richard Earle from the Advertiser

THE GUILE OF ROOKIE SPIN SENSATION
NEW SPIN SENSATION HOLLAND PUT THE HANDBRAKE ON THE REDBACKS

I think Richard Earle,Bayman, NFC and Jackpot Jim yesterday might have witnessed a special player in the making.

A decent performance against the Redbacks doesn't mean we should be flying him to India for the Second Test!
It will be interesting to see how develops, the two Cullen's were the next big thing not long ago and now their careers have stagnated a bit.

Point being any AU spinner in a good 20 minute spell can be the best spinner in the land

A bit? They're both rubbish.

Not far off the mark their mt79.
If their were 500 there, they would have counted the seagulls in that tally TWICE.
The worst thing was that Victorian supporters outnumbered Redback supporters with poor TAITY copping it from a group of Victorian lads (about 15-20) probably on a footy trip or something and BAYMAN was the only one to get into them but promptly got put back in his place.

Although Bayman had the last laugh as his well orchestrated PLUNGE on the Vics came off, taking $1.80 pre game and then had another serve with the ON-COURSE bookie  in the run @ $1.42.
Bad Bad Bad result for the NEW Cricket Bookie  who will return i believe at selected games. :D

I don't bet, but they've had a bookie at Adelaide Oval for years. He used to be in front if the Bradman stand, just up from the players' race. Not sure where he is these days.

That was the incomparable Johnny Thornton
The bookie chat by JJ is basically fictitious
BAYMAN/JACKPOT JIM were making up odds on how the betting should be
At last count I think Bayman was winning 2 cans of drinks off JJ or something like that

he does look like a good prospect for the future but does bowling well and with good figures the batting weakness of the redbacks mean anything??
i am still amazed that krejza was taken on tour before hauritz and even Xavier Doherty! do people agree with that or??

Jon DUTCHY Holland story eminates in this thread
A bag of wickets and all of a sudden he will be the best spinner in OZ by default

When discussing KREJZA we can compare his selection to the council road workers
When the Supervisor has to decide where to dig for the day, ge gets a dart throws it at the map on the wall and where it lands he says " We are digging there today."
The KREJZA selection may have been made the same way !
No disrespect to Jason , Im sure he is thrilled to be there, and he is a good domestic bowler

a good domestic bowler? that is questionable as well i think. Has played in NSW the home of spinners and now at Tasmania and i believe his first class record is somethin like 45 wickets at an average of 43 or there abouts! Nathan Hauritz has had a great couple of years in the one dayers for NSW but has not got a game in shield side due to casson and magill playing! I would have prefered to see Hauritz chucked in the deep end without the shield behind him as he has performed at some sort of level in a domestic format! but i think holland should replace krejza in the pecking order already!

The spinning cupboard is very bare
Barring a WARNNNNNEY comeback
Or a sensational debut by DUTCHY
Then we might have to groom Nathan ADCOCK for test duties .....

should he be playing infront of cullen after his form with the ball in the games so far for University??
has produced some tidy economical figures that also had bags of wickets! altho he nearly throws the ball i reckon!
but bring back Warney for any success in the future

I would agree ADCOCK could replace CULLEN as the off spinner
BUT
CULLEN at this stage is a better batsman ....

Hauritz is playing second XI for NSW. Can't see him being a candidate. He's also really quite bad to be honest. Always has been.

I did state he is not playing shield for NSW but has been a consistent player and standout for NSW in the one day format, but with there spin options in the squad in recent years (macgill and casson) he wont play shield!
wat about that young steven smith from NSW he bowls and controls his leggies really well and is a good batter aswell, he will be one to watch out for the future
