New Obligations for Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield ;)

Postby Benchwarmer » Thu Sep 11, 2008 2:12 pm

Came across these guidelines relating to the sponsors obligations for the Sheffield Shield, sponsored by Weet-Bix

*All “Weet-Bix” Sheffield Shield players must eat a minimum of four Weet-Bix before each day’s play and whistle the Weet-Bix jingle as they enter the field of play.

* Weet-Bix is the only food allowed at team breakfasts. Any player eating rival cereals, toast, fruit, pancakes, muffins or (heaven forbid) yogurt, will be sanctioned under Cricket Australia’s Code of Conduct.

* Umpires must use six Weet-Bix in lieu of a counter to count the deliveries bowled in an over.

* Thigh pads will now be replaced by a box of Weet-Bix under the player’s clothing.

* Boxes will now be replaced by the plastic “mini-bowls” of Weet-Bix.

* Drinks will now comprise of “Up and Go” drinks, because they have all the goodness of two “Weet-Bix” in every serve. The serving of water or energy drinks at these breaks will result in a $200 fine to the offending parties as these drinks are the mortal enemy of the “Weet-Bix”.

* Umpires must now call “breakfast” instead of “drinks”, “lunch” or “tea” during matches.

* In lieu of sledging, players may only be able to communicate with the opposition in “Weet-Bix” speak, such as “how many do you do?”, “You’re not an Aussie kid, are you?”, “you guys are falling apart like soggy Weet-Bix” or “I hope you’ve had your Weet-Bix, son!”. The penalty for non-compliance is a five run penalty against the offending player’s team.

* In the event of rain washing out play to the extent that a first innings result is not possible, then each team must select one player who will participate in a “Weet-Bix eat-off” of five minutes’ duration. The player who eats the most will earn their side first innings points. This rules has been designed to allow South Australia a chance to win matches if they select Mark Cosgrove in their XI.
