Not calling back Elliott last night after Sidebottom flattened him leaving him short of his ground was a disgrace. At least he has admitted his error but i wish he hadn't said "i probably should have called him back". There is no probably about it Paul. New Zealand have been on the end of some poor sportsmanship over the years and whilst this is not quite as low as the underarm saga it is an embarrassment for Collingwood and English cricket. Glad to see the Kiwi's won in the end.

Remember a certain runout of Muttiah Muralitharan by a certain Brendon McCullum that wasn't all that charming.

True but that doesn't make this incident any less disgraceful.

Wasn't Murali going to congratulate Sangakkara on making his hundred and when Murali was running down to Sangakkara, McCullum ran him out!

Pretty poor in my opinion. But, he did the right thing - admitted he messed up and should've called Elliot back, and good on him for admitting it.

Vettori was good in saying that Collingwood's admitted he made a mistake, move on.

At least, unlike the underarm incident, the result ultimately wasn't affected, so a good result for cricket IMO.

Murali deserved to be Run Out for being so STUPID. Geez, even kids know that u don't leave ya crease til the ball is Dead.

Can't compare the 2 incidents.

Pretty Poor on the NZ team not to shake hands at the completion of the game, even more so considering they WON.

but surely the collision was accidental, therefore england would have every right in upholding their appeal. if a batsman accidentally snicks one for four he doesnt ask for those runs to be cancelled or when the batsmen deliberately get in the way of the ball for run outs by running up the pitch nothing happens then

IMO they should take away the right of the captain to call someone back.
That was a rule when cricket was a gentlemans game which disappeared in the 70's.
Let the umpires and video refs have the final say on everything.

Can't agree with you MAY-Z. If a batsman is struck by the ball whilst running between the wickets and that ball rebounds to the outfield you never see the batsmen take the extra run even though they could. Why? Because it's not in the spirit of the game. Same applies to running out a batsman in this circumstance IMHO.

but if the balls goes to the boundary in such instances they dont ask for the runs to not get added on do they, they just laugh and say it was unlucky- same here elliott was unlucky

and also if the set off for the runs and the batter and bowler collided and the bowler was impeded from getting a possible run out teh batters would still run and jsut say it was part of the game.

But you can't imped the batsman from trying to get a run.

it was accidental - you are also not allowed to obstruct the field from getting a wicket but batsmen do it all the time when they rn inbetween the stumps and the ball to stop runouts

The bowler shouldn't have been in the spot he was in on the pitch anyway, I'm not a big fan of the Sheeplovers but fair enough for not wanting to go and shake hands. If you don't mean "thanks for the game" you shouldn't have to say it. It was a friggin disgrace and so he should've felt like a pinhead.

I bet he wouldn't have said he was in the wrong had they of lost, the look on Vettori's face said it all, I'd expect that sort of crap from div 15 amateur.

I just wonder if Peter Roebuck is calling for Collingwood's sacking.
