First test Australia vs. West Indies

For those of you with faith no more rest assured, the easy stuff is over and finally the real thing begins. You might need some angel dust with your coffee though or you might turn into zombie eaters as plenty of late nights await you. Make sure you get some sleep or it's surprise you're dead. This series doesn't look like it's going to be an epic battle with both lineups falling to pieces.

Early news suggests that Matty Hayden has an achilles problem and will miss and Pup will miss also after only turning up in the Windies today returning from compassionate leave.

Ive noticed an overwhelming response to REBS post
I had better kick start the posts

MATTHEW HAYDEN :butthead: :?:
_______________________________

Advertiser report 22/05/08

HAYDEN HIT BY INJURY WORRY
The career of Test opener MH is being threatened by a repetitive tendon problem which medical staff fear may be an inherited disorder.
And Australia admits plenty of its players are playing in pain with a plague of other tendon injuries which are sparked by overuse and may have been exacerbated by the Indian Payme League

_______

Sorry for the Haydo fans but if this injury has flared up from the Indian Payme League, I personally feel no remorse for Haydo.
Chase the $$$$
OR
Rest in the best interests of your country
This country has made people like Haydo very rich men with substantail wealth building contracts.
If Haydo wants to greedify his finances at the age of 36 by chasing more $$$ in a poofta league then sobiet.
His punishment may now be the end of a magnificent International career

INDIAN PAYME LEAGUE
___________________

Ive watched about 25 minutes of this money infested garbage cricket.
We see both teams AU/WI affected by injuries etc leading up to a Test match series.
Sure some players were mad not to go
MCGARTH /WARNE are 2 good examples, they are retired International cricketes and should compete
Established current Australian International cricketers who have placed the pocket before thier country will not get any complimentations from me
Pure greed
Cant blame them for financial security from thier personal perspectives
BUT
risking fitness and injury so close to a tour of the WI smacs of pure greed

QUESTION ? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
If everyone in the IPL were getting paid Pura cup wages would any of them be over there ?
NO !

TEST SERIES WI V AU
____________________

Lets hope the KAT reserects his International career for 2 reasons
To help AU dominance on the world stage
And so he plays less for NSW !
Great to see he was chosen to open instead of Rogers a player of lesser ability
Blokes who score 1500 odd runs at PC level should get a green cap depite batting in the wrong spot
However perhaps
Rogers should have opened and Hodge not selected ?

Despite being underdone Im looking forward to destroying the WI

SAMUELS and the rest of us will be watching this series !

So with the big man Haydos out the Aussie line up could possibly be the following which is the biggest 1 series change we have had for a while;

1. Phil Jaques (only new himself)
2. Simon Katich (Hayden)
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Michael Hussey
5. Brad Hodge (Clarke)
6. Andrew Symonds
7. Brad Haddin (Gilchrist)
8. Brett Lee
9. Mitchell Johnson
10. Stuart Clark
11. Stuart MacGill (Hogg/Warne)

Still too strong for the Windies

Good post mal. The IPL is no place for current International cricketers to be. It's a real shame for Haydos but he has brought this on himself. I hope for his sake he recovers and his last memories of cricket aren't playing in such a ridiculous format of the game Twenty20.

Yep, great post as usual mally. You've watched 25 more minutes of the 5hit than I have my friend. I'd even go further and say that the IPL is no place for any top cricketer who doesn't play for the West Indies or New Zealand boards. **** Indian cricket - cos that is what IPL is all about. Bunch of whining ****.

regards,

REB

ps - er, you might have noticed that I am not much of an IPL fan LOL.

We should be playing Watson/Marsh before Hodge. For once it would be nice to look to the future.

Totally agree, a early 20's batsmen will do the same job as Hodge at no5.

Katich was already in, if Hayden's out it means Hodge plays too.

He is a very good player. Not as good as what Australia has been used to but if he played in any other test playing nation he would have had a long and distinguished Test career by now.

Will this series be covered by ABC radio?

Always look forward to the Windies tours, but this could be a real whitewash sadly :?

How can you say he would've had a long and distinguished test career by now with another country? very hypothetical. I agree he is a very good player but not test standard....

Same goes for Katich........not a TEST player, but a very good 1st class player.

CAREFUL lads.
WI have not got a quality spinner.
HODGE is likely to make a plethora of runs when he faces the quicks with an unshiny cherry.

Half way thru the 3rd over and I got to say that this is very disappointing from a WI point of view.

Normally an AUS V WI tour...first test, they are swinging from the stands and nearby palm trees trying to get a look but the stadium is empty and the bowling attack is at district level.
