Some of the Pommy batsmen are not fairing too well at all in the series
- Strauss 97 runs @ 19.4
- Vaughn 119 runs @ 23.8

KP's ton is the first by an English "batsman", the only other made by wicket keeper Ambrose.

Just as some of the Kiwi batsmen are also struggling
- Bell 48 runs @ 12.0
- Oram 48 runs @ 12.0
- Sinclair 58 runs @ 14.5

Anyone know why Oram is not playing..is he injured again? (Are he and Bond in competition?)

Bond is out because of his decision to play ICL and Oram is injured.

It wont be long before Strauss is omitted again and Ian Bell slots back into the number 3 position IMO.

I meant are Oram and Bond in competition for being injured the most. If NZ had both of those lads on the park 100% of the time thsy would be a top three side in both forms of the game

Bell batting at no 5 at the moment and averaging 35 for the series, is only third to KP and Collingwood, despite only one 50.
Who would you have come into the side?

I am not questioning Bells form, i think he can bat anywhere in the top 6 but i dont think Andrews performances are warranting a spot at the moment and IMO he would want to improve quickly.

I think there are only 2 that can be considered on form at the moment and they would be Ramprakash and Shah and they probably wont add much more as it is so i guess they have some decisions to make if these failures keep continuing.

I was talking about after the tour.

I hope Strauss can find some form because he is a good player but a few more tests like this and he will be on the outer again IMO.

Are England to one dimensional? Cook, Bell, Strauss, Vaughan are very one paced batsmen particularly in this sort of form, Collingwood and Bell continue to be shuffled around the order to find the right spot for them and the team. Only Pieterson is really able to take apart test attacks. It is a real shame Trescothick and Flintoff are falling off the map as well.

Would you make any changes? If so who?

England finished up making 253.

Southee is the first NZer to take 5 wickets on debut for over 50 years. Terrific effort.

NZ were cruising after the early loss of Bell (Who IMO looks completely out of his depth along with Sinclair.) at 1/103 before Ryan Sidebottom has ripped through the middle order. NZ are now 7/138 with Sidebottom taking 6/33 and still going.

Fleming and How the only ones to get going with 59 and 44 respectively.

NZ- All out for 168

Sidebottom 7/47
Broad 3/54

England in their second dig are 2/91 with Strauss on 42* and Pieterson 7* and they will be looking to build on their lead tomorrow and Strauss will be looking for a career reviving hundred.

This is a bloke who has scored only 90 odd runs at an average less than 20 this series.

It does not matter what sort of attack it is against, he needs this and badly.
