This game was rain affected and should have fizzled out to a draw.

QL 9/310 DEC
WA 2/115 DEC
QL 3/27 STUMPS DAY 3

DAY 1
QL were in strife on day one at 3/75
A superb top score 80[142] by Shane Watson re invigorated the QL innings
Watson got QL to 6/247 to a 6/270 day 1

DAY2
It rained all day

DAY 3
More intemittent rain
QL declare 9/310
WA declare with about 10 overs to go at 2/115
QL are teetering at 3/27

DAY 4
WA take early wickets the innings held together by Shane Watson
Watson top scores with 39 and gets QL to 6/79
At 8/117 WA are well in the game QL lead by 312
An unbeaten 39 partnership between Kasper /Hartley gets QL to 8/156 dec

The equation
WA need 351 off about 79 overs
At 2/168 [37.3] they were cruising needing 183 off 252 balls
CRASH
9/233 and 13 overs left
WA in all sorts
Mcgoffin /Edmonson the last 2
They bat for 12 overs and
9/274 with Scott Brant to bowl the last over

This from Cricket. com site

78.4 overs ....McGOFFIN drives in the air to short cover on the bounce !!!
78-5 overs.....BRANT swinging the ball on off to Mcgoffin who chops the ball JUST past the stumps unbelievable !!!
79-0 safely played to sqaure leg

DRAW !

Shane Watson top scored both innings 80 + 39
Batting at 5 [at last]
Did not bowl a ball [at last]
Its taken 12 months to work all that out ....

And I think It may have been Kaspers last game ???????

Wow what a finish!

Great to see Watto back at 5 and even better to see him making runs! Top scoring in both innings is a great effort.

Watson this and Watson that.
As long as Symonds and Hopes are there Watson will not get a national gig. Symonds is going well and well to be honest I dont rate hopes but hes miles in from of Watson.

yep, agree, can't see Watson doing anything unless, Symonds or Hopes get injured or something and plus there are alot of players on the list ahead of him for the national gig.

Watson is no chance of winning a recall to the Aussie side, he would have to make it as a batsman and he is not good enough. Players like D Hussey and co who are not in the team are better than him.

Agree WATTO has not done enough this season to get a gig in Test matches
However
His o/d and 20/2O form at domestic level is very good AGAIN this season.
His International o/d form last year was outstanding.

DJ HUSSEY quite rightly gets his call up in the squad as a batsman in the AU/IN game today
WATSON would be the next in line as a batsman only in o/d games.

Watsons form has been ok not brilliant but not bad. He is only averaging 36 in the Franger.

Dighton, Rochi, White, Paine, The 2 Marshs, Voges, Birt and Quiney all average more this year in the same comp (Just to name a few) so he has hardly been a dominant batsman.

Why would the selectors pick Watson after 4/5 solid games in OD cricket.?

not so much the 4/5 solid games
but for the brilliant 5-6 games in the last world cup
Plus his 20/20 form is sensational this season
he is ready as a batsman only now, not a bowling cripple !
