Aussie team in transition

With Gilly's retirement I was  to work out that only 4 players now remain in the side since the 2005 Ashes loss

(based on current test XI)
OUT
Retired - Langer, Martyn, Gilchrist, Warne, McGrath
Dropped - Gillespie, Katich

IN
Symonds, Jacques, Hussey, Clark, Johnson, Hogg & Haddin(?)

Only leaves Hayden, Ponting, Clarke and Lee

With Haydo surely close to the end the 2009 Ashes side will possible only have 3 returning players from the previous tour that must be one of thge biggest transitions from one series to the next ever (81 to 85 would also have been low possibly only Wood and Border returned that time)

In 1930 there weren't too many players who had been to England before IIR.

Lawson made both trips

One of teh reasons why I think Katich should be rewarded with a cap again soon as we with teh loss of Martyn., Langer, Gilchrist, Warne and McGrath some experience back in the side would be good

Katich was hard done by.....scores his first 100 in one dayers and then hes's gone commpletely from both teams. He will have to come back in at some time to inject experience in a gritty Justin Langer role. He has plenty of cricket left in him and some unfinished business after the Ashes in 05.
