It's been reported that Ricky Pontings parents have had to change their telephone number because of harassing/menacing/threatening phone calls about Ricky.

This is simply disgraceful.

As was Peter Roebuck's pathetic article from earlier in the week

Worst cricket article ever IMO.

along with Tony Grieg - they have both made "thousands" out of living in Australia over a long period of time and they would be the most anti Australian commentators going around!

Unfortunatly that is society today, it is in places and there are some very sad individuals out there, what the hell Pontings parents have to do with this is beyond me, wish some people would just get a life

Particularly how Griegy was treated in his adopted homeland once he signed with WSC and the ensuing acceptance he got in Australia - you would think there would be some sense of balance in his commentary.

Roebuck has always written to be popular, it's only in big issues such as this one that it becomes really obvious.

From what i can recall from 3 or 4 years ago, Roebuck was in strife for something himself, so should be the last person to be making judgements about other people.

Indeed he was:

Roebuck in 2001 was given a suspended jail sentence after admitting caning three young cricketers he had offered to coach. He pleaded guilty to three charges of common assault involving three South African teenagers between 1 April and 31 May, 1999.[1] Roebuck was originally accused of indecent assault but pleaded guilty to lesser charges of common assault. However, the judge said he did not accept the purity of Roebuck's motives. He said: "It was not appropriate to administer corporal punishment to boys of this age in circumstances such as these. It seems so unusual that it must have been done to satisfy some need in you." Ian Fenny prosecuting said: "Roebuck then pulled the boy towards him, in what appeared to be an act of affection. He then asked if he could look at the marks on the boy's buttocks, something which he in fact did." [2]

It's Indians using their call centre skills to their advantage in this case. ;)

Not the first time, by all accounts, those sort of allegations have been made about Roebuck.
