DAVID HUSSEY 3RD TEST SELECTION ??? Turning back the clock

The sensational Victorian middle order batsman continues to pile up runs.
Has a first class average of 55

Here is a game I remember well
LISMORE 2003/2004 NSW V VIC

NSW 317
KATICH 76
JAQUES 50
HADDIN 50
LEWIS 4/68

VIC 259
ELLIOTT 39 =D>
HUSSEY 51
MACGILL 5/94

NSW 396
KATICH 96
THORNLEY 143
HARWOOD 3/93

STUMPS DAY 3
VI O/3 off 4 overs

The equation on day 4
452 needed to win for 455 runs
a minumum of about 95 overs in a day

DAY 4
1/13
2/37 ELLIOTT 19
3/72 HODGE 33 after 21.2 overs

Vics need 392 to win
Enter DJ HUSSEY

4/248 MOSS 76 [55.2 OVERS LEFT]
5/383 WHITE 60[87.1]
6/383 MCDONALD 0 [87.4]
7/422 ROACH 18 [96.4]

33 needed , overs bowled quickly as there was about 7.2 overs to go

7/455 and an amazing run chase

DJ HUSSEY
212 NOT OUT :prayer: :prayer: :prayer:
26 FOURS
5 SIXES
218 BALLS

Now this is a player the selectors should consider very strongly for the 3rd test if any injuries to our batters.

:prayer: :prayer: :prayer: :prayer: Here here i posted the exact comments in another forum just before, i really hope the selectors take this option but i feel they will go with Katich if either Hayden or Symonds can't play.

Adam Voges will get the gig if HAyden pulls out (not that I expect him to)

David Hussy should play Test cricket at some stage but if Hayden is out we need an opener. It would be stupid to move Mike Hussey for one game. Katich is the obvious player to come in.

I tend to agree R-R that we should bring in an opener .... or at least a middle order batsman to open

Leave Mr Cricket at no 4

But has Katich opened much before and, if not, could David Hussey open ....... Mal?

No david Hussey could not open IMO. My vote would still go to Rogers.

Katich has opened a lot in one day cricket and has the game to do it the longer form. David Hussey is a middle order player.

I've actually been thinking about who the long term replacement for Hayden is when he retires. The cupboard looks bare unfortunately.

I would bring in the in-form, experienced Katich. However i would love to see David Hussey get a go as his first class statistics are superb.

Maybe the selectors could use this one-off opportunity to try some new rather than re-hash someone like Katich

They have done that before

Voges seems the popular tip in the media if Haydo can't play so I assume he could open?

The Australain selectors should think logically [as they always do]
Sir Mike Hussey can open for one game as he has in the past
Sir Mike is not the option as a full time opener.
I would pick KATICH who has made a ton v India
HODGE has made a double century in Perth v South Africa
If the selectors dont want to pick recycled players then Mr DJ Hussey is in the equation?
ROGERS is not as good as the others, and does not deserve a spot

My gut feeling is the selectors will be keen to play Tassies choice Adam Voges.

If (and its a big if) Hayden is ruled out of the next Test, it is not the time to be blooding the next long term opener. This is a one off opportunity and bringing in a player for their first test and them knowing they will be dropped regardless of what they do is not ideal. Experience and form should be rewarded and Simon Katich is the man for the job.

Yes Simon Katich has been making runs but he has not been opening the batting in the Pura Cup.
If it is a one off why not bring back Justin Langer.

Yeah heez a champ
And even though your suggestion is laughable, if Haydo is injured he would be
the next best opening batsman going around in the country.
So I think he is good DOGGY

Laughable becoz he's retired, not becoz of abilty
Theres no doubting he is still good enough.
