Just been announced the Adam Gilchrist will be rested from the third one dayer against NZ, it is presumed that Brad Haddin will be his replacement, once again the Aussies flirting a little with their side with the series not wrapped up.

Don't think it's such a bad idea. The plan always was to give him a rest for this game. Just happens that the game in Sydney was abandoned and he gets an extra game off. You'd assume that Clarke will open and Haddin slot in at 6. Still a very very good side. Australia are extremely lucky to be in the position where we can afford to rest a player the quality of Gilchrist and bring in a bloke as good as Haddin to cover him.

reckon he is about 30-31, so has quite a few years left in him, RR is the guru on figures this month he may well be able to confirm or deny  If he was in a number of other countries there would be no doubt that Haddin would be in both their test and one day sides

Correct.
You would say that the only country Haddin would not be first choice keeper for if he played for them would be Sri Lanka. A bloke called Kumar commands that spot...but he is no longer keeper, so you'd say that Haddin would even get that job.

Actually, Haddin would probably be good enough to to warrant a spot as a batsman only in just about every other international side!

Personally I'd rest him for all the one-dayers and let him be a specialist test match player to keep him fresh at his age

Or at least lower him down the batting order for the ODIs

Haddin is a super replacement and will do the job fine - might just extend Gilly's test career by a season or 2

just asked that because if CA are resting him due to workload then surely they wouldnt allow him to play the indian tourney.

i think even ponting signed up for it and he's been complaining about the amount of cricket they play

Haven't seen anyone rested from the Test side. Perhaps it is the yellow and green baseball cap that isn't seen as particularly important. Fair enough too.

This is a joke.. Surely there has to be more to it!! Didnt he have a rest in the rain out in Sydney. And if CA are worried about burn out, why the hell did they let him play in Ford ranger and Pura Cup for WA last week. They stopped Taity playing so he would ok, why not Gilly.. This just slaps the Aussie fans(esp in Hobart) right in the face. How many young kids would be goin to watch Gilly's big hitting, but to be told he needs a rest... Just stupid!!
As previously mentioned, why give him a rest, so he will be right to play for Millions in India 20 twenty!!
Aussie Cricket loosing Credability i think... How sad!! :(
