56.12

Postby mal » Tue Dec 11, 2007 4:10 pm

114 MATCHES
173 INNINGS
19 NOT OUTS
8643 PURA CUP RUNS
275 HIGHEST SCORE
56-12 AVERAGE
12243 BALLS FACED
70-59 STRIKE RATE
50'S = 35
100'S = 32

This great batsman has never played a Test Match for Australia.
He would have been a regular test cricketer for nearly every International team.
How long do we wait for a Baggy Green for this star batsman?

As usual your spot on ROD
He just made another 100 v TA today

Its the old argument we resurface on this site
ITS
An inferior batsman who is the REQUIRED allrounder plays for Australia [ROY]
And the superior batsman[DAVID] plays P/Cup cricket.

Hussey, like Macgill + Haddin was born in the wrong era

He is not even contracted ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

One day there will be a TV show called Who wants to be a cricket millionaire supporter, you should go on it, I reckon Hussey may well end up being another Jamie Siddons which is very sad, both should have played alot of test cricket, but a few injuries you never know he may well get his chance

Reckon D. Hussey will get his chance. He's only 30 and despite the fact he isn't contracted he would surely have to get the chance if an injury occurs.

On Symonds, he may not be a consistent as a Hussey but the match winning effect he can have is where his value lies. His fielding is as good as anyone and he can chip in for a wicket. Worthy of a place IMHO but has to keep performing otherwise he'll be under a lot of pressure.

Have to agree RR, I love watching Symonds explode on the field either with bat or his fielding, I am not a great supporter of his bowling as such but he can do a job either with his medium pace or spinners, I don't think at this stage his spot is under any pressure whatsoever, he may have one or two average hits then bang out he comes and absolutely smashes an attack apart. also I think he has matured greatly as a Test batsman, he seems to know when the pressure is on how to build an innings, not that he has had to do it alot, hells bells even RR and me could get runs coming in at 4/555, just after lunch on the 2nd day :wink:

I agree with you there Rod. Symonds is a monty in the ODI & Twenty/20 sides and could easily afford to have a few poor performance with the bat and still be in the side - in ODI cricket he has been in magnificent form since that innings against Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup.

However, in the Test side he can ill afford any poor performances, even average ones. I am a massive fan of Roy and do hope that he can keep his place in the side though.

:shock: I didn't realise his record was that impressive! And likely never to play a Test match for Australia, unless Symonds, Clarke or his brother get injured.
