Oh No!! ANOTHER Franger match

Postby Rik E Boy » Wed Nov 28, 2007 2:11 pm

Blues vs. Buttrangers

NSW batting first and already Forrest Gump is out. NSW 1/24 off 6.1 overs. NSW have now not won in their last eleven ODD matches.

That's not the worst of it. If the cricket.com.au scorecard is to be believed SR Clark will be coming in at 4 for NSW

Think they may have the wrong Clarke.

Thornley listed at 11 as well. Mal would be happy with that.

And the next Australian fast bowling superstar is 12th man.

What is going on

LOL. Just checked that. Douggie is 12th man, Clark with an e not playing and Clark and Lee are in. Thornley deserved to be 12th man after his effort against the Tiggers. Where's Pup?? Next batsman in according to Baggy Green is Cowan.

Hughes going ok so far 32 off 38 balls in his first Franger. Blues are 1/67 in the 15th over.

50 to Hughes to match the 50 he got in his first Moo Moo match. Well done. He is only 19 years old so maybe letting Christian go wasn't the clanger I thought it was.

Bluebaggers 1/115 in the 26th. Buttrangers attack look a little toothless on paper at least. Haddin listed at six but surely he goes in next?

Your boys are looking ok at the moment REB. Picked up some good wickets. If you get Hussey on the cheap then your definitly in with a chance.

Quiney, a player who emerged last year, played an absolute gem. Both mal and myself rated him last year and he has certainly delivered against a quality attack. D. Hussey was also outstanding but we have come to expect that. Very unlucky not to have played international cricket but hopefully he will get his chance. Quiney could well get that chance as well in the future.

For the second match in a row the Blues have scored over 250 and been beaten easily. How can this happen with guys like Lee, Bracken and Clark in your attack and on a night when Nathan Hauritz bowled quite well?

I've watched the Blues many times in the Franger over the last two seasons and I am convinced our biggest problem is not the cattle but the captaincy of my mate Simon Katich. Every time there is a Powerplay (when we are batting or in the field) the momentum seems to swing away from NSW. Last night NSW had a new ball and a batting powerplay was called and Katich left Hauritz in the attack when you had Lee, Clark and Bracken to chose from. I believe the momentum last night was lost even earlier when Thornley went for nine and Katich left him on, which went for another ten. I was yelling out for Lee as soon as Quinney came to the crease. By the time he had to face Lee and Clark his eye was in and it was too late.

Also Kat's fields are ordinary, he is the classic 'hole plugging' captain. Anyone who has ever been a Cricket captain knows what you are trying to achieve out there is to set fields to match the bowling and the bowler's plans..to make the batsmen hit it where you want it to and not to react to their dominance. Whenever you see a captain continually moving fieldsmen where the shots just went, there is a sure sign of a skipper that doesn't really have a plan and is not a great captain. Look out for it in your next match. If you are batting and the holes are being plugged by the opposition skipper then your team is on their way to victory.

Kat is batting beautifully this season but he is still the worst captain going around tactically. A big innings by the batsmen can cover this weakness in the longer form of the game (it buys you additional time to try things in the field) but the more difficult game tactically is one day cricket for captains and this is why the Blues are struggling.
