Cricketers doing TV adverts

Postby brod » Tue Nov 06, 2007 11:26 pm

Has anyone out there had the misfortune to see the Channel 9/WIN advertisment for the cricket this season. The whole thing is bloody terrible, but the momentary stare down the camera by Nathan Bracken, before his guitar solo brings tears to the eys. Then tonight I see a Ford ad with Michael Clark in the cream jacket as if hes in the central commentary position hosting a classic catches segment. I felt embarassed for him, the voice, the jacket, the whole thing...

West Indies and KFC.

As for the Mr Walker adds, the kid played for both Carlton and Bulldogs - Jimmy Plunkett.

The ads for 'this is ESPN', featuring various American super stars are absolute classics, when they pop up on ESPN during various sports broadcasts.

One with Pete Sampras, sitting at reception at ESPN, and him calling 'out' every time someone left work.
One with a stock car driver (unsure who), out in the car park using an jackhammer on the speed hump.
Various ones with nfl players and baseball players just wandering through the building, usually wearing their full game day kit.

Obviously have the budget to inject some real humour and time into them, but real good.

The Michael Clarke one was massive cringe-material.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.
