I've been asked to MC at a Q&A session featuring the gentlemen above later this week.

Obviously there are some very well known stories about the pair, particularly Boof, but are there any that you reckon I should ask about that might not be so well known?

You could ask Boof what he thinks about the Australian selectors and Bob Simpson ;)

How does it feel to complete 2 world cups in a row? One with the bat, the next with a catch (if I recall correctly).

What did he REALLY say that day in the change rooms, when he wound up suspended for a few games?

I dont think it was his decision to relinquish the captaincy.

Given he was also a talented footballer in his early days could ask if there was any thought to pursuing an SANFL career.

And also: any regrets (not financial regrets obviously) about moving to play for Victoria in the 90's for a few years (that ton he scored against us early on during his Victorian days almost brought tears to my eyes :( ).

Good questions.

He's a Doggies man, so that'll give me a chance to talk up the boys in enemy territory (again!). ;)

Have you read his book "Worth the Wait" GWW??? explains it all there. but to hear it in person would be good also.

He played two reserves games for Centrals when Knuckles Kerley was senior coach after his second game against Port both teams copped an absolute flogging. Next training session they were made to do countless laps of Elizabeth oval and he spent more time leaning over the fence than running around it. He promptly retired on the spot never to play again at 17.

Maybe I could ask him about watching Centrals beat the Eagles in four other GFs?

BTW - Darren Lehmann, Greg Blewett and Mark Cosgrove all Doggies supporters and recent Australian players. Pretty good effort I think.

Just on the topic of Lehmann, i'm just trying to remember the details of his dismissal in his first Sheffield Shield innings. Was against NSW in about 88, i recall there could have been some type of controversy involving Greg Dyer and Geoff Lawson??, but being nearly 20 years ago, cant remember, can anyone recall?

I flicked through his book the other day when this thread popped up it was third game backing up straight after Perth after copping a nasty knock on the scone. Had just screamed to his 1st 50 in First Class cricket and Lawson was bowling around the wicket to Hilditch and placed the ball to cover for an easy single. Lawson cut across the pitch to field and clipped Boof enough to trip him and ball is thrown to Greg Dyer NSW keeper and capt. Dyer did the sportsmanship thing and asked Lawson to withdraw the appeal. he refused to bowl if Lehman was reinstated and he walked off. Hookes was breathing fire back in the rooms and Hookesy waited till the tea break to take Lawson head on firey words exchanged and Mike Whitney steps in to diffuse the situation and then the game continues

I remember that now.
Geoff Lawson and Greg Dyer loved a bit of controversy didn't they (not as much as Hookesy though!)...the ugly 80s. A narcissistic time in Australian cricket.
