Nine MSN news page now has a poll asking if the Aussie cricket team is in 'decline'

After 1 20/20 match?

No one really cares about 20/20.

I believe that's when both sides send out bowlers to the middle and they bowl and the team that hits the stumps most wins or something like that.

Yep, like a penalty shootout in Football...would be a ripper to see one happen.

Nine msn are wankers i watched the game and it was a very slow wicket and the aussies have been training in Joburg and the wickets are very fast there. and you forget the aussies had 2 practice matches and before that the last game they played was the world cup final. over 3 months ago

They looked rusty as old nails. I fell asleep at about the 10th over of the Australian innings and it was like watching paint dry. Missed the Hayden wicket, however Gilchrist and Ponting never looked like finding rythm. The Zimbabwean bowlers weren't particularly impressive either, some of the tripe they served up deserved to land in the brewery next door but wound up in the hands of outfielders or let through to the keeper.

Chappelli was sledging in the commentary box early as well, giving heaps to Nassar, I wonder at what stage he thought "Oh dear".

new zealand and the windies had a bowloff a couple of seasons ago- it was very funny as neither team could hit the stumps to save themselves

i agree though 20/20 isnt real cricket and qwhilst i will wtach a fair bit of it i dont take too much notice of teh results

It's well and truly here to stay I reckon, rightly or wrongly

Look at the crowds that went to Adelaide oval last year for a state 20/20 match. They love it - get to the game at 6, home by 9 - that means $$$$ that means it will grow and grow

They said all the same things about the 50 over game 30 years ago but the high crowd numbers made it permanent. 20/20 is also perfect for TV which means more $$$$.

And exactly same as ODI when they started, some teams didn't take it seriously and others embraced it and made a name for themselves. Look how much publicity this loss has created. Even Ian Chappell has come and criticised the lads for being too complacent.

I agree it is here to stay, but at what price ? It is a pure bastardisation of the game. At least the 50 over game lets a bowler shine, lets the batsman find touch and is entertaining MOST of the time.
If 20/20 stays, then so be it, but as you state it's all re $$$ and that talks...
