Agree about Marnus. Green is not up to it.

Agree also with this re Marnus. Was very surprised he was not picked in original squad

Labuschagne with 72 (58), actually the most ODI runs for Aus in 2023, 464 runs @51.55 from 10 innings striking at 93.17.

Greens' dip in form in all formats of the game is a tad worrying albeit not unexpected from a young lad.

Is better of coming back to Oz for a couple of months, have a small break and then get into some shield cricket in preparation for the upcoming summer here, albeit that is a forgone conclusion as far as results go conceding Pakistan will provide a bit of resistance.

So today the 15 will be finalised.
We will be picking 4 batsmen in form (including Marnus) and a slew of middle order non contributors.
Not one of the up and coming white ball specialists showed enough in the last month to force a spot, so we go into the WC with a very familiar look.
Think it's between Green and Inglis as to who makes way for Marnus, and with Carey dwindling returns, I think its wise to retain Inglis.

They should pick Green for tests only at this stage in his career, he's no good at any other format.

I will bite... who should be in?
IMO no one outside of this group warranted selection, in fact 3 or 4 in the squad have also failed their pre Cup examinations but didn't have anyone stake claims to have them replaced.

Very strong 1 thru 4 and the bowlers deserve to be respected. Big issue is how to construct a versatile and productive middle order with absolutely no one providing any confidence at 5 thru 7. Assuming Carey takes one of these spots (at least at the start of the comp) and Maxwell will take another, it leaves one spot for grabs between Stoinis, Green and Abbott. We really need a batting all rounder but neither Green or Stoinis even look likely to score. It would be a bold selection, but as things stand Abbott is batting the best of those 3.

Bit surprised that Stoinis wasn't given a game to either find some batting form (if he's playing on Sunday) or at the very least, push for a spot.
Now appears he, inglis and Abbott likely to miss.
