those guys were trying to break into probably the greatest team in history though.

but they all had first class averages of close to (or more) than 50.

Head hasnt done anywhere near enough yet. Wait till he is 24-25 and he should be primed though

Just saw a picture of the pitch, I wouldn't want to bat on that against a quick bowler with a new nut. Pitch was falling to bits

But the point is there is no guarantees and he has wasted many starts when he could have really put his name up there.
Could all be different in a few years time, Clarke overtook Law and Hodge

Knowing very little about this situation, It sounds like a total farce ?
It seems that tour warm up games have become so irrelevant, why do they even bother having them any more considering the amount of cricket these guys play around the world these days ?

The picture i saw, it was rough around the crease and 1st follow through step but the danger area etc and the rest of the pitch looked fine

That area did look weird though, like whole parts had broken away.

But yeah seems more like an excuse to end the game early

No way at lunch on day 2 should a pitch look like that.....looks like a timeless Test match on about day 8.

Ferguson out LBW first dig
Some posts suggested it may have been a rough decision

Ferguson out caught behind 2nd innings
Ive seen the disMissAL live and on replay , it looked like the ball missed the bat by about 2 inches
Guys in the middle would know better , plus my eyesight is not what it used to be

Did anyone else, including WHUFC , think Ferguson missed the ball ?

Pitches rarely play as bad as they look. Thats no big deal at all although it looks sub standard for the 2nd day of a match. I think NZs decision to pull stumps had little to do with the pitch. Must say that during the Matador Cup, some of the pitch squares they played on looked very ordinary for early in the season. I think Blacktown was one of them.

Thats the picture i saw as well as a longer shot of the rest of the pitch. All the damage was outside the "danger" area, IMO there was nothing wrong with it. I reckon NZ just decided they would be better off getting to Brisbane and batting in the nets on pitches that might be close to what they get in the test match. Obviously this one was no where near what Brisbane will be

People also said Mark Waugh batting was lazy.
From what I've seen, technique is good, but seems to get out as soon as he attempts to hit a boundary. Things may have changed.

No way should Head be anywhere near consideration. He shouldn't even be SA captain until he actually does something to lock his spot in the team based on doing something with the bat

Waugh scored a ton on debut. I was there that day. Just a lazy ton from Junior. ;)
