You young people seem to be neglecting one of the most famous non-test players, Sam Trimble. From 1959-76 he made 10,282 runs @ 41.79 including 26 100s & 48 50s. None of those runs came cheaply in English county cricket.

Wasn't Wade Seccombe's keeping regarded as the best behind Ian Healy and ahead of Gilchrist in the mid 90's/early 00's? Gilchrist obviously a better batsman, but Seccombe no mug with 4 100's and 12 50's in Shield circket.

After I won state player of the year in 1987/88, I thought I was a dead set chance to open the bowling on the tour of Pakistan. They instead went with Dodemaide & Reid and I'm like "whatever".

From the 1960s the three stand outs who may have played test cricket were Sam Trimble, Ian Brayshaw and Ken Cunningham. Trimble had to contend with Simpson and Lawry for much of his career. The odd selection in retrospect was Ken Eastwood in front of Trimble in 1970-71 although I think Eastwood had good credentials leading up to his selection that year. Brayshaw and Cunningham probably weren't quite dominant enough with either bat or ball to be selected but they were both mighty fine first class cricketers. If they had been in their prime in the mid 80s they would have walked into the test team

Used to enjoy watching Michael Haysman as a kid, seemed he was bound to play for Australia before too long.
Was he up to test standard, would have he been a good fit coming in at 5 behind AB? Should have be played in the 1984/85 series before he joined the rebel tour?

I thought of Gladigau as well, but similar to George, he never lived up to his early promise.

Anyone know if Gladigau played under age footy for Glenelg?

For those that remember him - what was Wayne Prior like? He was from late 70's/early 80's - I'm finding it a little difficult to remember him very well.

I remember when Scuderi and Hookesy both went a bit berzerk in an innings in the early 90's in a Shield Game.

From memory Scuderi eventually returned to Queensland to play, but did very little there..?

Memory pretty average these days so could be wrong, but I thought Trevor Barsby was a pretty solid player for the Benders, did he ever score a cap?

Eddie Gilbert (1930-36, Qld)

Dismissed Bradman for a duck, who later rated him as the quickest he ever faced.
Had a "suspect" action that probably prevented national selection.
