Out of curiosity, why cant SA recruit someone like Kieron Pollard to play in other forms of the game not just the T20? Why not recruit someone to play up until xmas or something?

We did that with Andy Flower and to a lesser extent Younis Khan and look what happened there.

What's your problem with him MP? He gets drift, dip and more importantly spins the ball, what more can you ask for an off spinner?

Agree, have been impressed with Lyon. Sure, he looks like a mad scientist's lab assistant, but like you said Riddler, spin, dip, turn, bit of speed variation.
He's the best Aussie spinner I've seen this summer. I'm not kidding. Lol

I don't read too much into T20 bowling stats, give him a crack in the SS team and judge him then.

No problem with him, I'd just as soon wait for more than four T20 games before I start spruiking him like AB was...

On the "SA Cricket getting it's act together" I actually said I would like to see him in the Shield side...

One reason is so that we can see how he goes... The Teeball stuff doesn't count for much IMO...

International teams play too much cricket all year round to make this a viable option. We could probably get someone for 3 months, but scheduling makes this almost impossible. Plus we now have the IPL comp, which makes it even harder.

Baysie, get brod onto that one, the amount of first class cricket around I doubt it. But I must say, Manou's timing is pretty ordinary at the moment for his high standards, didn't think he had a great night, but you could point to stats and that would tell a different story, didn't miss any chances, just very untidy for the ND keeper.

Are you going to drop O'Brien (our second leading wicket taker, while averaging 23)?? or play two spinners

NO, teeball totally different game, however, seeing as we are no where in Ryobi, perhaps a run in that might be the next test for him.

Happened in a test match involving Australia a few years ago.
Can't remember if we were bowling or batting but I remember it happening.

If it was this year, you would guess we were batting, a few years ago probably 1/125 and then 2/250 if we were batting.

This is just test cricket Bayman, not 1st class cricket.

It's actually happened four times - but the one you can probably remember was the final Ashes Test at Sydney in January 1999, when in the last innings Mark Butcher and Alec Stewart were both stumped by Ian Healy. The only previous instance in the 20th century was at Lord's in 1950, when Len Hutton and Cyril Washbrook were both bamboozled by West Indies' spinners and stumped by Clyde Walcott. It also happened twice in the early days of Test cricket: first at Melbourne in 1881-82 England's openers Dick Barlow and George Ulyett were both stumped by Jack Blackham, and then at Old Trafford in 1896 Drewy Stoddart and WG Grace were both stumped by Jim Kelly off Harry Trott.
