The way the team plays, none of the current team will even be alive let alone be in the team.

With Manou having a broken toe, next game is looking likely

Bump.

Rather than clog up the current match thread, who's it going to be?

Only article I found re Manou...

Question I have is, if we do nab Crosthwaite (not a bad move IMO), then who is our number two?

Over the last year or so, Ludeman has been that guy, playing when Manou is injured/national commitments, but if he is not considered good enough to be the number one keeper, then does he still hold the number two?

Crosthwaite-
Batting average of 22 in Shield matches and 21 in one day matches. Proved in the 08 20/20 Final what type of player he is.

Getting him is a HUGE step back for the Redbacks.
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

Was just about to post that up. Good solid career for manou capped of with a baggy green. Tope Effort from a more traditional Keeper in a batsmans game. Well done Mr Manou

Not a fan of the bloke, but farewell and thanks to a long serving and long suffering Back.

So if we get Hughes from NSW and an interstate wicketkeeper, will that leave one SA born player in the Shield side next year..

Still think that because our two best home growns are at the WC in Taity and Fergs, that should be incentive enough to invest in local talent. after all its SOUTH AUSTRALIA let the stupid city based T20 bring in the Imports but a good sheild side of South Aussies is what we want. IMO

Complete overhaul needed.

SMITH- He's only 22, one hundred and ten fifties. A real grafter that a few stroke makers can score some runs around- worth persevering with as an opener.
HARRIS- 31 years old, one of the "grizzled vets" that need to hang around for a few years during the re-birth of Sozzie cricket, he's pretty darn good on his day, and with serious application, he can rediscover the form of a couple of years ago. Handy medium bowler as well.
KLINGER- Only 30, and although his average (37) doesn't tell the story, we all know what he is capable of. His first couple of years at Adelaide nearly got him a baggy green, and he will add to his nine first class hundreds. Better batting at three than opening.
FERGUSON- The future. We are either happy that he's in the national setup, or stoked that he's wearing the red cap. The same average (35) story as Klinger, he's the gun, the guy who can make big runs...
BLIZZARD- 26 years old, and after being given a shot at FC cricket, he's grabbed it with both hands... Look for future improvement and hopefully a key role in our middle order.
{EITHER INTERSTATE RECRUIT, OR YOUNG SA KID)- If we can't bowl sides out with the below attack, then you may play a second spinner, or a HABERFIELD or RICHARDSON type bowler, the preference is that the four below can do the job. Otherwise, what middle order bats are floating around grade cricket, or not getting a run for their states?
CROSTHWAITE- Basically, we realise it is going to happen- Would prefer superman bats at seven, and Crosthwaite goes down to 8.
CHRISTIAN- Superman himself. When is he going to take first class cricket to the heights he took pre-christmas ODD games? Capable of batting three or four, or opening the bowling, and on other days struggling to bat above eight, and bowling second change! Can do it all, just have to wait for it to happen.
O'BRIEN/LYON- Pick the spinner for the day. If he batters are failing, then O'Brien needs a game, as he helps even out the batting, Lyon plays in the youth policy.
SAYERS- TBH, I don't know a lot about him, but he seems to be the safooty.net lovechild... grade stats are one thing in a weak comp, but he's the best homegrown bowler, so he must play.
GEORGE- Georgie, Georgie, where the **** is Georgie??? Last season he was the dominant bowler and got a baggy green, now nothing! Come on fella!
