Lara was at least equal to Tendulkar.

Personally Tendulkars longevity in my mind puts him way ahead of Lara, geez the Windies could do with a Lara batting at 5 or 6 in their side right now.

Other factor imho was that Tendulkar was thrown in the deep end as a young child against great windies/pakistini attacks he batted at six but there line up was not overly strong.

on the other hand Lara was able to bat at six and sit and watch blokes such Richardson, Chanderpaul, Adams, Hooper, Greenidge, Haynes do all the damage and come in at 4/300. Plus he never had to face the likes of Walsh and Ambrose.

Just my opinion of course. In saying that Lara is my all time favourite cricketer being half Jamacian i dont think there was anyone else really.

Not sure Lara batted too often lower than 4 when he first started. In general through out his career (especially the latter stages) it was up to him to make runs or the Windies would fail. The double century I saw him hit at Adelaide Oval on his last tour sold me that he was the best batsman I've ever seen (and probably ever will see). Also the carribbean decks aren't as batsman friendly as the Indian decks.

Tendulkar is an absolute star, but IMO not any better than Lara. Ponting is also only a whisker behind these two as far as modern day bats are concerned.

Geez we've been lucky to see all these blokes play over the last 20 years.

That was the best innings i have ever seen live a faultless double century was magnificent. I was on the hill waving my Jamacia flag, was a magnificent day.

True i totally forgot about Viv, even though he was at the end of his career when i saw him he was one of my favourties. Yeah definatley not daylight between the two.

The best book about how to play cricket i ever read is the Viv Richards masterclass book, as a kid i read the book more than a hundred time had everything from facing fast bowlers to bowling leggies, went through the technical side and mental side of cricket brilliantly.

Real bad fielding by Nathan Hauritz

had a run out oppurtunity should have thrown to the keeper, instead blasted at the stumps and missed by heaps, the batsmen was gone for all money even with a throw to the keeper.

George fields a ball at mid off and as all fieldsmen do, throws the ball to the keeper, but about 3 feet over his head for 4 overthrows although the batsan never contemplated running.
Anyone like to explain to me whats with this stupid time wasting process of throwing the ball to the keeper at all times instead of just getting it back to the bowler?

Not as much as every single ******* batsman touching gloves every chance they get. What happened to the good old-fashioned handshake!!

As a keeper, I enjoyed it. Getting up to the stumps each ball deserves reward ;)

What's wrong with touching gloves? Pretty hard to shake hands with gloves on!

I suppose it's better than a "box tap".

I hope David Lloyd (the English one) is not reading this - as talk of a box tap might make him wince a little.

Sachin made his 49th hundred.

Seriously.

Will he ever stop?

Passed 14K of runs, has played more Tests than anyone.

Player of the year, averaged about 80...

I am in awe.

INDIA 2/285
Tendiulkar 130*
Vijay 108*

Cant tell you whats happened WYC
I hardly watch TEST games in India
The tracks are that flat even WATTO scores 100s there ...

As 4 the discussions mooted about the 2nd best ever batter
Greg Chappell. Allan Border, Graeme Pollock, Viv Richards faced better bowlers
Had those guys faced the current bowling attacks they would all average about 65+ instead of 55 +

Sachin averages 55 and bats on a lotta flat decks
In the 2nd digs when the decks get worn a bit, he struggles and is an average batsman
He like Steve Waugh is a first innings superstar
