Batsmen like Michael Clarke are the reason it is so boring. Tapping singles for 35 overs and making 60 off 80 balls with the team limping to 260-270.

India would be making 300 - 330 on our decks playing aggresively and seriously flogging us I reckon. Bring them back!!

Get rid of the Michael Clarke's from all short forms of the game.....

The 50 over format is dying a slow death IMO

Does anyone know if Channel 9 will be showing the full game of today's 2nd ODI here?

Simple game plan that keeps working
BUT
Can be seriously affected
IF

Several SAFOOTY posters have noticed it
Ive posted it
Michael tippygo Clarke has mastered an effective formula
Hit the ball along the ground off a diet of spinners, part time spinners and military meduim pacers to the opposition players who are usually signing autograpghs near the pickets
Bat at about a s/r of 75
No risk at all, keeping his wicket intact, and assisting the hitters to get AU to scores of about 275

BUT
IF
Imternational captains use a skerrit of thier brain they could offset TippygoClarkes effectiveness
Bring the field up and starve him of eaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasy singles
Frustrate tippy
Ive seen this tactic used in the past, and Tippy can lose his cool, and try and hit over the fielders and get out

Opposition teams need to select more frontline bowlers to stemmie the gimme singles the part timers and inferior bowlers gift Tippy and other AU players.

How many years ago?? The game is moving forward, only a few months ago I still favoured 50 over games but I just can't sit there watching the defensive fields and single tapping for 70 out of 100 overs anymore.

Brod, I didn't ask who won. If you were content watching that game then you must be very easily entertained.

The public are voting with their feet on 50 over cricket, they ain't going....

It needs new rules to spice it up or it's history IMHO of course..

the 50 over format gives teams the "fat" to conserve wickets before a T20-style final assault

T20, to me, is just a 50 over game with this fat removed

I would highly doubt that Melbourne or Sydney would be made to host a game on a tuesday (with no public holiday).

I bet Cricket Australia will come out tomorrow condemning todays crowd more than sundays crowd the MCG which I think would be more worrying than any crowd we get today.

I reckon in the old days of triangular series, Melbourne and Sydney got quite a lot of Tuesday and Thursday day night matches, often with the two visiting teams.

I fear Australia will beat the Windies today like the proverbial dead horse that is 50 over cricket.
The revolution is just a t-shirt away

WI 3/11 [4.3]
I believe Channell 9 is only showing this match between 1-30 to 5-30
Perhaps they have foresight ...
