Bammmmm Cosgrove smacks a 4 and the Redbacks are 2 from 2!! Another sensational innings by Cossie.

Great to get a second win, hope it does some good for the boys in terms of confidence in other forms of the game.

VERY enjoyable night at the AO.

Tremendous crowd, very enthusiastic crowd, gerat atmosphere.

Cleary bowled very well, Tait even bowled with a bit of control tonight. Afridi/O'Brien had great spells, DC was good enough too.

Dan Hariss another splendid knock to open, but seriously, Manou YOU ARE NOT AN OPENER IN ANY FORM LET ALONE T20!!!

Cosgrove you superstar! Should be in the Aus T20 side. Nice knock by Afridi and a good late cameo by Dan the Man.

I like our line-up a lot, great depth with the batting and if the bowlers do as well as they did tonight, then we've got enough bowling options too. Importantly, we fielded VERY well too.

IMO there need to be changes for SA and AUS to advance in the t20 game.
1. Manou should and can not open.
2. Clarke should not play t20 and cossie should at the very least
3. Christian should get a gig before Hopes (yes he made runs, but realistically he wont open, and Christian has the ability to hit the ball from ball one)
4. Cleary/Tait both bowled exceptionally well IMO. Tait when fit, will be the match winner for SA and that will be in the semi-final/final IMO.
5. Bring on the VICS. We will destroy them ;)
6. C.White should captain the t20 national side being, Warner-Haddin-Watson-White-Hussey-Cosgrove-Christian-Johnson-Hauritz-Siddle-Bollinger ...

Swap Haddin and Watson around if needed!

It provides frontline bowlers in Dougie, Siddle, Mitch and Hauritz plus part timers in Watson, Christian and Cossie if needed!!!

IMO a cracking side!! Christian could be replaced by a Henriques or Simpson (yes im the biggest critic of simpson, but as a second spinner and a late order hitter, he could do the job for Australia)

Thoughts?

1. Agreed.
2. Somewhat agree, but willing to give him more chances.
3. I love DC, but I really value Hopes' role in our ODI side. Not sure about either in T20 national side.
4. Agreed, both were impressive, Tait was surprisingly in control tonight.
5. Hmmm should be a cracker but they are almost unbeatable!
6. My Aus T20 side:

1. Warner
2. Haddin
3. Watson
4. Cosgrove
5. Hussey
6. White
7. Voges (maybe, I don't rate him AT ALL for ODI's, but he's a decent player in this form)
8. Hopes
9. Johnson
10. Laughlin
11. McKay

It's been said many times about the condition of Mark Cosgrove but at first look tonight I reckon Ryan Harris has been in a good paddock since moving to Queensland too!!!

Is anyone else really impressed by Dan Harris? He's improving all the time. Was 3rd in runs for last years Big Bash and has picked up where he left off! Super stuff.

NFC i think your side is rather impressive. Im impressed by Laughlin (altho bagged heavily in his ODI debut series). IMO tho Bollinger is ahead of him and SIddle adds a fair bit. Hopes adds a lot as a bowler, but bowling 2-4 overs IMO is not as important as 7-10 in the ODI format. IMO Christian would fill the 10 ball and 2 over part better. Each to their own.

Picked the same top 6 just in a different order which will happen in a t20 depending on score, conditios, bowlers, who is in! Siddle and Bollinger IMO should be ahead of Laughlin and McKay altho just slightly!

And yes Dan Harris is really impressive. It seems weird tho, scores a great rate for t20, but struggles in the ODD format run rate wise. Quality player and fielder! Wont make the Aus side as an opener tho with Warner, Haddin, Watson IMO

Well you need 5 bowlers to bowl 4 each in T20. I've got Johnson, McKay, Laughlin, Hopes and Watto, if any are struggling throw in Hussey/Voges, in fact they'd probably bowl anyway because spin is so critical in this form.

I agree Bolly and Siddle are ahead but I'd rather go with younger options (altho Siddle is probably younger than Laughlin lol). I reckon we should let those two guys go full steam in test/odi's and leave some other guys to bowl in the shorter form. Hauritz seems like a bit of a wasted spot, I'd rather Smith.

Excellent win by the Redbacks. Nice little cameo from Afridi with those sixes but have no idea why Manou is opening. I agree with Mal it's almost sad watching Symonds out there. The timing, the power, the flair all seem to have deserted him. He didn't look much better playing for Deccan in the Champions League a couple of months ago either. He looks like he's content to just rock up for the IPL season (about a month and a half) and pocket his $US1.5m. When that 3 year deal ends at the end of this IPL season I wouldn't be surprised if he chucks it in altogether.

I can see absolutely no reason why they would open with Manou or bat him at 6 in the shield. It could cost them a game at some point. Time to put reputations and ego’s a side. I thought both imports were great. Pollard’s batting was a bit disappointing but he would have saved a good five or six runs in the field.

=D> =D>

Spot on comment it can and will cost us games. Cooper or Cosgrove should be promoted to open as Manou is simply not up to it. Great crowd last night and many were turned away at the gate.

Pollard looked a little proppy last night i hope he hasnt done an injury. He came off the field and was doing alot of stretching in the outfield (the ball followed him everywhere) and only bowled the 1 over. Looked pissed off after getting out and refused an interview after his innings too.

He is in brilliant form and an absolute asset to the Redbacks in all forms of the game. One thing i find fascinating is the transformation he can make from stonewall defence in the four dayers to all out attack in T20.

So Cosgrove has found his niche, 3 hours of cricket and 5 overs of batting. Yep, he's first class alright... 8)
