Katich would still be there if he was playing. Remember, he plays for himself and doesn't over do the slashing shots. ;)

Agreed, but these days no captains ever elect to bowl first!

Obviously didn't want to bat on day 5 on a spinning deck against a quality spinner, might be lucky to reach day 4 at this rate

aussies have always wanted runs on the board first...their spinners will be dangerous on day 5, if we get there.

still, i think their weak batting would have been good to attack on the deck first.

this referral system...its kinda bittersweet i reckon....it takes away all the spontenaety (sic?) of test cricket...you know...you'd get some, lose some etc...now it makes things kinda perfect but i just somehow feel we've lost what used to make cricket somewhat unique....in the states, these systems have been used for years and they are used to it...its just so weird to be able to say to the ump...i think you are wrong...remember when dad/coach used to say..respect the umpires decision...now we just say **** it ;) :?

Umar Gul to Clarke, no run, smack! Clarke gets a thick inside edge straight into his genitals. Ouch. The batsman falls to the floot in pain.

ok... what i'm about to say is a big call ....but this pitch is not fit to play on.. surely it's a danger to batsmen to be playing on such a pitch. clarke being hit and all ... i say call the game off.. no other option....

Not sure that batting first was a mistake. 2 of the 3 wickets to fall were terrible shots and the batsmen got themselves out.

Nothing really wrong with the pitch, yeah some movement of the seam, plus swing and then some good fast bowling and some very shoddy batting from 2 of the 3 batsmen that have got out
